This is sort of a trendy throwback
theater that has its own charm. It likes the modern technology of the huge cineman complexes. For a nostalgic experience it cannot be beat. If you are looking for great sound and picture quality... you might like somewhere else better

Get nostalgic for the days when moviegoing was a night on the town at this
historic art house..
In Short
In a city short on downtown movie theaters, Baltimore takes pride in this longtime Mount Vernon institution. Housed in a Beaux-Arts building that originally stored cable cars, the theater retains its century-old charm. High windows, industrial ceilings and traditional ticket and snack counters provide a fitting contrast to more modern features like leather couches and stylish cafe seating. First-run independent films are shown nightly, but the Charles often runs Hollywood flicks and cinema classics as well.

The BEST.
There is no better place in Baltimore to see those movies you've heard about, but can't seem to find. The Charles has them. Great theater experience!

THE BEST!.
This is simply the best movie theatre in the greater Baltimore area (if not the world). A fantastic, ever-changing and diverse selection of movies, great snacks, a colorful staff, and unique industrial architecture make this my favorite movie theatre of all time. I will only see movies elsewhere if they do not come to the Charles at all!
