Founder Joseph Coulombe started this L.A.-based convenience chain 34 years ago. Today, you can get exotic, prepackaged frozen foods, fresh salsas, huge portobello mushrooms, baby artichokes and heirloom tomatoes fresher--and cheaper--than at most supermarkets. Inexpensive meat, fish, coffees and teas, dozens of cheeses, grains and pastas cram the shelves. The frozen section features tasty treats, including barbecue chicken pizzas, mushroom risotto and salmon patties. Beer, wine and liquor sections are stocked with very affordable labels.

User review by bogdana. i used to think i couldn't do all my grocery shopping here, but now i go nowhere else. the produce at the reisterstown rd. store is pretty big, and the apples that come in 1/2 peck bags are delicious. this is for people who don't want PHOs or HFCS in their foods- delicious and not full of chemical altering.

Nobody Beats TJs. You wont find this combination of value or quality anywhere else. Trader Joes sells the same products you would find at a more expensive gourmet store (eg Whole Foods) for much less. It may seem to the untrained eye that the selection is not as big, but everything you need is there, just fewer brands per product. only one caveat - the produce selection is not huge, but what is there is of good quality.
