Pete's is the Worst Business Ever
by john numbnatto at Citysearch
"Starcaster" must work for Pete -- he sounds like a ringer. They are terrible. Actually, they are worse than terrible. I bought a snow blower from Pete's and the one they delivered took over 70 pulls to finally start when it was delivered. I have to assume it didn't start for the sales department and it damn sure didn't start for the delivery person who dumped it off at my home. I emphasize that they delivered it anyway without fixing it first. Let me make this perfectly clear: Pete's Cycle knowingly and intentionally sold me a defective product that they knew full well just flat-out wouldn't start. I called them and asked that they fix the product as a warranty repair but It took almost two months and ten or more calls for them to pick it up. Their service department kept it for another three months until I called Honda Customer Service and filed a complaint. Finally I was told that the problem was bad gasoline, that they had changed it, and that the machine now worked. In fact, it did start with what sounded like an explosion when they delivered the supposedly repaired blower; however, it didn't start at all the next day. In fact, I think that they had simply primed the carburetor with starter fluid before they dumped it off for the second time. I called Honda again, and they recommended that I simply use another dealer for the warranty repair. I did, and the high school student the Honda of Crofton dealership sent to pick it up took one look at the problem, stuck his finger on the choke cable and fixed the problem in about 30 seconds - after they took the machine back to the shop for a full check-up. They delivered it again the next week.
To recap the story:
1. Pete's knowingly delivered a faulty product
2. Pete's dragged their feet and hemmed-and-hawed about fixing the problem
3. Pete's either couldn't or wouldn't fix an elementary mechanical problem
4. Pete's lied to me before, during, and after the issue was on their plate.
The issue finally had to be resolved by another dealer (again, Honda of Crofton).
Pete's Cycle ranks at the top of my all-time worst sales and service experiences.
Best In Town!!

I understand that not everyone is going to have a positive experience everywhere they do business, and it's usually the case that those who do not have a positive experience will usually be the loudest. But...that changes here...PETE'S IS THE BEST PLACE IN TOWN FOR YOUR MOTORCYCLE BUSINESS!!! PERIOD!!! Now let me back that statement up. In the past 11 years I have bought 5 motorcycles from Pete's, 4 new and one used. They have gotten 85% of my repair business, I use that number because I do do some of my own work when time and tools permit. Gary is an awesome guy and a very knowledgeable salesman. When I bought my first bike I only had my permit, when it came time to do the test he went with me on his own time! Before I had bought a bike there I didn't even know the man and here he is on his own time helping me out. Ben in accessories knows his stuff also and can get just about anything you need quickly. The parts guys also do a super job. Last Friday I ordered two parts for one of my Triumphs and it was in the store 4 business days later and I just installed them an hour ago. Brian in service is a busy guy, running the show and overseeing what needs to be done. If I need a repair he always fits me in. Now granted ladies and gentlemen we all want things done quickly, but this isn't Jiffy Lube. You can't walk in during spring time when everybody and their brother is pulling out their bike for the new season and expect to get serviced in a day or two. BUT if you schedule your service odds are he'll get you in and out as promised. I've had a time or two when I needed a bike fixed in a hurry and Brian and the guys have gotten it done and me happily down the road as promised. I found an oil leak on my bike two days before leaving for a ride to Memphis, Tn. and he got the bike fixed the same day! John the owner will also do what ever needs to be done to make his customers happy. I am a proud Pete's customer and will stay that way.
A Rip Off

We will never go there again. The service department is ridiculous, they wanted $600 to clean the carb and change a spark plug. Watched one man walk out when they quoted him $300 for a job that someone else said they could do for $75. I don't think they understand that it is repeat business that keeps the doors open
