Editorial Review for Petticoat Tea Room – by Laureen Miles Brunelli
The Scene
Roses--in teacups, on the china and throughout the Victorian carpet's pattern--nearly overtake this Fells Point eatery. The only things more prevalent are the teacups, which are exhibited on almost every flat surface. Behind them, icy pink walls set off the bursts of greenery dangling in the lace-draped windows while lantern sconces and plain slat woodwork add a hint of rusticity, that suggests faded--rather than classic--elegance.
The Food
High tea unfolds in artfully presented, if unevenly executed, courses. A delightful beginning comes with cranberry scones--dry, but not crumbly--served with rich Devon cream and raspberry jam. But the chicken noodle soup which follows is harsh and salty. Herb-dusted tea sandwiches look exquisite on a three-tiered platter but are excessively doughy. The meal rebounds with heavenly little cream puffs and slices of tender pound cake.

Insider Tips
The ExtrasHigh tea--the most elaborate prix fixe--includes a pot of tea, scones, soup, sandwiches, cheese, pastries and fruit. Little girls will delight in the kid-friendly Tinkerbell tea, which requires a 24-hours-in-advance reservation.
Know Before You GoA 20 percent tip is added to the tab of all tea parties and groups of five or more.
What to DrinkThe aroma of peach nicely balances the aftertaste of pear in the grean tea called Peaches & Pears The Vert.

After reading many of the reviews here, I was saddened by my experience with this tea room. First, after making a reservation weeks in advance, I arrived, paid for parking only to find out my reservation had been "dismissed" in favor of a Bridal Shower. My second experience was worse. I called to make a reservation for "High Tea". The rude salesgirl began by giving me pricing over the phone! I didn't ask the price, I asked to make a reservation! Then after she gave me the price, she asked if I were still interested... as if I could not afford the tea. I felt extremly disrespected by her, but was still willing to endure her attitude. The last straw came when in attempting to make the reservation for 3, the rude woman who answered the phone expected me to give her my cc information. At this point, I felt that the salesperson was making a deliberate judgement about me based on the fact that I am African American and will NEVER EVER patronize this place. I would suggest other's follow suit.
Pros: None
Cons: All.

Has menu of close to 40 loose teas. We are usually accustomed to us each being served our own teapot of our likening however they allowed us to pick 4 bottomless pots at a time (for 9 ppl). Which turned out to be nice because we could pick whatever we wanted each refill and sample a bunch of teas. We even had a bunch of leftovers to take home. They brought us 2 huge 3 tier serving trays filled with food.
Pros: 40 diffrent, teas, Organic Green Tea, Peaches and Ginger Tea
Cons: Tiny space for large groups
