Editorial Review for Jordan's Steakhouse – by Karen S. Nitkin

The Scene
Overstuffed chairs, elaborate chandeliers and vaulted ceilings (painted a warm rust) create a feeling of elegance. Only diners seated near the windows get a view of the Tiber River, but everyone will get swept away in the mellow mood furthered by a sound system awash in jazz and American songbook standards.

The Food
Meat-eaters can choose from filet mignon, New York strip or porterhouse, all charred on the outside, tender within and served with crispy, salty shoestring fries. Seafood lovers can't go wrong with firm, white-fleshed rockfish in a light cream sauce, served with steamed spinach and fluffy jasmine rice. Even a simple mesclun salad is gussied up with candied pecans, blue cheese and slivers of oven-roasted tomatoes. Desserts include a creamy, liquor-drenched tiramisu in a martini glass. How sophisticated. How decadent.

We really liked Jordan's. The service was excellent from start to finsih. The wine selection was very good and most importantly, the steaks were delicious. All in all, a perefect evening at Jordan's.

Pros: Food, Waitstaff

$171.00 for the meal for 2... Tip $40.00... We have the money, but won't be back! Service, service, service or lack there of. The waiter needs to get his act together, no recommendations for beverages, no recommendations for the most part. The order came out wrong and when your paying $55.00 for a 12 oz Filet, you want the order to come out right the first time. But after all was said done, we both woke up with a case of indigestion and everything that comes with it. I guess it comes down to failed expectations. 30 years in the industry and I don't understand the lack of service standards for what is suppose to be a fine dining establishment. To the server and management team. Never, never ever go to a table and ask "do you want something to drink"... what do you think, that we drove 45 minutes one way to just sit and stare. Take time to share your love of great food and drink... make suggestions, recommendations. Wow us with your passion to serve... another words earn your tip as oppose to expecting a tip because you work at a high end unit. Know your wines... what goes well with the food that you offer, show some passion about your signature deserts. Recommend a after dinner drink, or coffee or cappuccino. When its that slow... managers should know every guest is precious, take time to visit with your guest, especially when your kitchen drops the ball, have quality checks even before the food leaves the deck. Obviously people are willing to pay to come here, but if your not wiling to leave the safety of the back, or where ever you were on a very slow night, is the difference between what will keep you operational for years to come or out of business because you guest only visit you once. Something for you to think about.

Pros: Seated Immediately

Cons: Poor Service Standards
