Excellent Service! Great food!! Live Jazz!!. We started the evening in the bar with Chai martini's and excellent calamari. The bartenders were freindly and very happy to help us select a wine for dinner. We almost stayed in the bar for dinner but the place is so pretty that we wanted to see the upstairs dining room. Our waiter was excellent and made some great suggestions for entrees. We had an excellent meal. Just as we were getting ready to leave, the band started playing so we decided to stay in the bar and listen to Jazz. It was truly a great night out!
Very poor customer service!.
My family and I had a really bad experience at Taste Restaurant on Belvedere Avenue. We were eager to try the restaurant on the recommendation of my eldest son. My husband, myself, our college age daughter and a friend went to Taste after a comedy show . No one acknowledged us at the door so we assumed we should seat ourselves. In all fairness I will say the place was packed with other guest who attended the same show . Once we took a seat, we were told the section we chose was closed. The waitress yelled you need to wait to be seated by a hostess. I explained we had been there some time and no one had acknowledged us. She snarled at us and walked away. Our party was then told we could stay where we were. We waited for menus but no one came near us. Finally our daughter got up to ask for menus. She was told, "We don't have anymore menus, you'll have to get one off another table. Once we secured our own menus, no one would take our order. Apperantly they allowed us to sit in the area but they would not serve us in the area. We were told if we wanted to order we had to move. I was so disappointed at this point that I suggested to my family that we leave. I took a few minutes to write an appropiate note declaring my disappointment. I gave it to the bar tender who passed it on to management that Friday evening; we are approaching a week and I have yet to hear from them.
The sad point is that Taste knew a large crowd was coming for food and fun after the comedy show. They were clearly not prepared. They also made it clear they did not want our business. My daughter overheard a remark by one of the waiter's to another that they would make no money tonight.
The guest who did stay to eat said the food was good. I left before ordering. It saddens me a restaurant in my neighborhood has such poor customer service.
I will stick with my tried but true places like the Prime Rib. Never a disappointment!
Ignored at bar after great dinner.
On the reliable reccomendation of a mutual friend, we attended Taste for a birthday gathering. The food was agreeable, and service (Howard) was impeccable...until we went to the bar for drinks. We sat at a table at the bar and waited for about six or seven minutes. We were chatting when the guest of honor said, "Do we get our own drinks?" I surmised that this was the procedure, since I have worked in MANY, MANY restaraunts around town as a chef and server. Our guest of honor went to the bar, and ordered our drinks. After he sat down, three young women came in, walked past the hostess stand and took a seat behind us. Almost immediately, a slim young man approached them. With bread and menus in hand, he took their order. Not once did he look in our direction. The young ladies had two rounds of drinks, while we sat and waited for the server to get us another round. We were the only other table seated at the bar, and although we waited patiently for additional service, there was none. We finally got up and left.
I have not been treated in such a manner in some time. Our little group enjoys the dining experience, and between the three of us, spent about $240 in dinner and tip for Howard. It was a dissapointing experience to have to endure, since we probably would have spent an additional $75 at the bar for drinks, and because of this experience, I give Taste a rating of 4 out of 10. The owners have to understand that the dining experience for the customer doesn't end with the payment of the dinner check, that it encompasses the ENTIRE event from entrance to exit. I am hoping that the outcome of this rating tells the owners of Taste that a little more attention to its after-dinner patrons is sorely needed.
