This place practices poor business ethics. I went to the 1340 Smith Ave location to pick up a dozen cupcakes on my way to a baby shower. I had a Living Social voucher which was $16 for a dozen cupcakes. I knew ahead of time that the voucher had expired, however in fine print, it stated that the paid value of $16 does not expire until 10/23/2016. The girls behind the cashier were fairly new and were not sure how to proceed since they did not have the scanner present. So they called the owner. I spoke with her for about 5 minutes during which she was full of excuses for not honoring the voucher. First it was because I didn't print it out (even though it states in the fine print I can pull up the voucher and present it on my smartphone) Then it was, well I didn't give them enough time in advance, then it was well the voucher expired, and it's not really being honored anymore because there were so many people who bought them. WTF? Lady, you can keep your dozen cupcakes. I am NEVER coming back and will spread the word that your customer service is absolutely horrendous, lack thereof.
worst cupcakes yet..... expected a gourmet cupcake for the price, but got something that had a terribly dry cake and nasty overly-sweet frosting. better off making a boxed cake mix (at least this is edible). definitely will never go there again.
Great Cupcakes...a family favorite. We live in Mt. Washington and the new store opened up there a few weeks ago. This was the first time we tried the cupcakes. They are really great. We got 1/2 dozen variety, my favorite was the red velvet and something called the carmel praline (not salted carmel). I have never had yellow cake this moist. The whole family loved them. It will be one of our favorite treat places.
We love Charm City Cupcakes. we meet the owners mother, a lady name Ms. Fay who started the recipes. these are the best cupcakes I have ever had. I went to get a few and bought a dozen. you go for the cupcakes but you really feel like family by the time you leave. its not an uppity place, just downhome good.
What a disappointment!.
Where do I begin...I called in my order 2 months in advance for a birthday party, they didn't call me to talk about the order until the night before. They wanted a credit card to hold the order which was fine but I asked them not to charge it because my friend was going to pay for them, they charged my card anyway. And when I asked them to credit my card and charge another card, they said they would but never did. They were 2 hours late for the party and didn't call to tell me. They didn't get the order correct. Were they good? Yes, but everyone at the party was too fuming with their poor customer service to enjoy them.
I think these are enough reasons to get your cupcakes elsewhere.
