An Embarassment for Sprint. Having been impressed by Sprint's obsession to provide excellent customer care over the phone, and also by positive experiences in other stores, this particular store is an utter disaster. My son brought in his phone a month ago because it wouldn't call out. After a very short time, the store agent came out from a back room and declared the phone "water damaged." This surprised him since his phone had always been with him and had never been exposed to water or dampness. Curiously, other posts on this same store complained that water damage was declared the reason for their phone's problems. Since the phone was water damaged, he was told it could not be repaired and advised to call Sprint's insurance company to receive a new one. The store kept his old phone. He called the insurance company, was asked about the old phone, told them the store had it, and was assured the store would send it back. Well the store never sent it back, and now this week the insurance company is demanding that I pay $350 for the damaged phone. I called the store, they claimed they never kept the phone and there was nothing further they could do to help. Was the phone properly checked in the first place or is "water damage" a convenient way to avoid a more time consuming repair? Did the phone disappear to hide this? I called Sprint customer care, and it was if I were dealing with a different company. In short, they planned on investigating the store for fraudulent activity (their words) and would reimburse the insurance company for the damaged phone. Now that's good customer care. This store is an embarrassment to Sprint's good name.
