Worst dining experiences ever. This was the third time we gave this restaurant a chance. The last time we were there, their waiter dropped a glassful of water on a perosn in our party and there were no apologies or even a comped soda. This time, it took them a good amount of time to seat us and then an hour till our order was taken. We found out the manager/owner is also the bartender and order taker. The reason he couldn't seat us right away even though 75% of the restaurant was empty was that he was making martinis. The ONE person they had working the floor did not understand any English. Then, they brought us the wrong dish. Our chai tasted horrible and trust me, I am Indian and make chai at home, so I know how hard it is to mess that up. The entrees came out lukewarm and the seekh kobab was downright cold. The lychee creme brulee had burnt sugar instead of caramelized. Overall, it was probably the worst dining experience we've had in years.
Indigma Review. I tried the lunch buffet which offered a variety of tapas sized offerings. The "buffet" is served table side which gives a much more a la carte feel to the meal. Compared to other Indian restaurants in the area the food tastes much fresher and the use of spices is much better. The food is not as greasy as other Indian restaurants and the price is on par with other offerings in Baltimore. Many Indian food gourmands will enjoy the variety of foods offered in the buffet, but the variety of flavors may be an overwhelming introduction to Indian food for those unaccustomed to Indian dishes. Overall the best in Baltimore.
Beautiful restaurant BUT..... Indigma is a VERY beautiful space but our party of 4 had a a VERY disappointing Saturday evening in 2009/March. Service was spotty at best; didn't seem to be host or manager on duty - our entrees didn't arrive til 2+ hrs after we ordered (and w/no apology); entrees portions were comparatively expensive ($16-$21) but portions small; chicken was dry & tough, hard to find the lamb in the lamb entree; ditto for the "jumbo shrimp" entree; we were given a small bowl of rice that barely gave two spoonfuls per person. if only the food and service were as good as the restaurant is pretty!
Value for your money. we had meals there few times, each time it was wonderful. I highly recomend this place to any one who would like to try something diferent from regular Indian fair.
Superb treat.
I travel to Baltimore regularly on business. I do not even remember how we stumbled upon Indigma, but I am thrilled that we did. It's gorgeous- literally- the decor is stunning. The staff are competent and polite.
And the food.. oh the food. After a couple of visits we have tried probably half of the dishes on the menu, and not a single one has been a disappointment. The best feature is the fact that everything that you bite into has been very obvously freshly prepared, nothing seems mass produced, or frozen and reheated. Dishes are beautifully presented, and the staff have been very accomodating to our requests to customize orders, and order traditional dishes not listed on the menu.
I've never had desert there, so cannot comment on that, but the cocktail menu is innovative and fun, and I would reccomend the "Hot and Dirty" martini.
Thansk to Indigma for giving us something to look forward to on long trips to Charm City.
