After the smorgasbord, Broadway hits are belted out by an assured waitstaff.. The Scene
Since all productions are performed in the round, audiences can expect two things every time: close proximity to the action and a fairly non-existent set. Despite being a relatively small black-box space, actors are miked to ensure those facing the rear of the action at any given time can still catch every sung syllable. Musicals, after all, are Toby's bread and butter: Subscribers--a good number of them being geriatric--get old chestnuts ("Meet Me in St. Louis"), more recent near-misses ("Footloose") and eternal favorites ("Annie Get Your Gun," "Evita"). A piecemeal live orchestra completes the invigorating sound.

The Food
Repeat customers are drawn to the consistently impressive voices, not the lackluster buffet (which admittedly has expansive offerings: a comprehensive salad bar, an ever-changing number of entrees, and make-your-own sundaes). Sunday matinee brunches are nearly as extensive. Day or night, specialty drinks are served in souvenir glasses.
