Sorry but this is NOT Thai food that I know....
The restaurant itself has a great atmosphere and I really loved the way they decorated it.
Im not here to sound ignorant or anything like that, but I went here when my parents had visited the area (I just moved here) and everything had sugar in it that we ate... nothing tasted like any Thai food we have had before. Im one of those people that will stick to one thing- so if I liked it in one place, i will get it again in another place (and my parents did the same- stick to what you know/like) and we all agreed it did not taste the same to us.
I had the lime chicken salad- it was so sugary and guess what-- there wasnt even any lime in it- i had to ask for some and they brought me lemons... lol No where have i ever seen it with celery in it, and without mint/cilantro... I was honestly expecting it to be just like in Thailand provided there are many Thai people working there.
Anyways-- i just want to say that my mom is from Thailand (I am half Thai and have spent time in Thailand as well eat quite a bit of Thai food) and this is definitely "Americanized"-- which is what the staff told us (my mom seemed to enjoy being able to speak Thai with them). Did not know there was such a thing as American style Thai food!
My dad had some kind of lemongrass coconut soup which was also sweet.... my fiance had a stuffed shrimp dinner which was not stuffed shrimp as we thought but the shrimp was the stuffing to a big doughy almost dumpling looking thing... The calamari had way too much batter on it and I only got about 8 rings for 8 bucks... We all sort of sampled each other's meal and a few things were good but as I said the food wasnt anything like I had anywhere else.
I went here because of all the reviews and was greatly disappointed.
I will say one thing- I love the thai coffee... even if it has a million grams of sugar in it-- i ended up watering it down and it was fine.
Best pad thai in hoco hands down. I'm a huge fan of their food and have been ever since the early 90s. Their pad thai and thai iced tea is the perfect meal.
Excellent thai food.
Excellent food, fast service, decent prices, lots of cool umbrellas hanging upside down. At least we know that we'll stay dry should it start raining indoors.
While the outside doesn't look stellar, Bangkok Delight is an excellent Thai restaurant. The food is generally ready within 15 minutes, there is never a wait for a table, you'll pay about $12 per dish, the portions are plentiful, and the taste! Excellent. Unless you are acustom to spicy food, I would not go any hotter than medium spicy. They usually allow modifications to menu items to suit individual tastes.
The only drawback, and I believe most area restaurants are plagued by this same issue, there can be lots of screaming kids running around. If you can, head there later or else get the food to go, lest you like shouting at your dining companions.
