My stylist of 20 years (Tom at #6 rated Sima's in Canton) was out for a back surgery and I needed a cut and lighlight for a vacation a week away. I saw this salon on this website and it was referred by a neighbor as it is about 5 minutes from where we live. I was kind of curious about someone new as perhaps I was missing something great? Not. When I called for the appointment, I was very specific about absolutely not using bleach on my hair as Tom had succesfully lightened and darkened my hair by using multiple colors and all foil for the past 20 years to avoid damage. After I was put on hold (which was my first red flag), I was assured that could be done. To make a long story short, after we determined the color which did take a long time due to my inability to explain it (about 45 minutes) I was told that the way that colorist worked was to do all over color and then highlight afterward which by the way would cost a ludicrous $240! I explained that it could be all done with foil rather than double processing any hair. That way would take 1 1/2 hours was the response. Ok, so whats the problem, I was used to that for the sake of healthier hair?? An unwillingness to proceed that way was implied. Then almost as an afterthought, I was told that the only way to get any of my hair lighter was to use bleach! I know from experience this is not the case!! Resigned, in need, against my judgement, and even after the stylist said we were potentially not a good fit ... I stayed! My fault completely. I ended up with a color close to what I wanted and a far less than precise haircut (understatement) for the low low price of irreversably damaged bleached strands and $240!! I will never stray from Tom at Sima's regardless of the circumstances. He is an excellent colorist that takes whatever time is necessary to achieve great results in a healthy precise way. Oh yeah, and it's 1/2 the price!!!

Pros: nice staff, perhaps it was just my experience with a particular personality

Cons: price, care for health of hair

Great cuts and the colorists are better than anyone I've tried closer. Everyone their is congenial and there are no "celebrity" attitudes. I always leave happy, relaxed and ready to drive back to Baltimore city.
