I read some really negative reviews for this place on Citysearch and one other review site. I just went there Saturday and I have to wonder if it was even the same place. Maybe it got new owners.
Regardless of the reason, I couldn't disagree more with those negative reviews. I went in February 2012 and I found one of the best if not the best game store I've ever visited. The staff was friendly but not pushy. The store was clean (shocking for a game store) and well-stocked. With two floors, there is plenty of space for miniature, board, and card games, and even a separate room for a role playing group.
I am almost exclusively a miniature game player, so I was ecstatic to find fantastic terrain and boards in good shape, as well as helpfully marked bins in which to put them. This keeps the store clutter free and keeps the terrain in better shape for longer.
The only negative about this place is that it's about 45 min to an hour from where I live, and I can't put that on them. I do regret naming names a bit, but Dream Wizards in Rockville - which is much closer to me - stinks on ice compared to Games and Stuff. G&S is the only store I'm going to patronize in Maryland.
Agree with other review.
Kinda sad.
Store was barely stocked, no prices on anything. Everyone working was just in the back playing WoW, not very helpful.
At least it has some free play space.
This is way games have a bad name....
The Glen Burnie game shop has gone through many owners over the years, most of them were really bad.
Back in the early 2000's the store was purchases by a nice woman (I forgot her name) and she really turned the place around and gave the location a new name, Games and Comics and Stuff. I was a regular for a couple of year until my job relocated me to the other side of 495.
I recently returned to the area and not only had the store moved one block but, it had changed ownership again. Now the Glen Burnie game shop is a pit again. Dirty store, rude employees, weak selection, I tried a couple of time to give the place a real chance (they did install a LAN line in the back) but, it frankly it is the worst incarnation of the Glen Burnie Store... ever! The manager (maybe owner?) Matt is just horrible. I saw him belittle at least 3 different customers during my visit and he seemed annoyed just to have people in his shop.
Finally, since the store didn't have much merchandise on the shelves, I asked for a order to be placed and to be called once the game arrived. After 3 weeks with no call and rang up the place. The man on the other side said "We saw a note that said 'Special Order' but there were no details - so we just put it on the shelf...and it sold already. Did you want us to order another copy?" WORTHLESS! I declined his offer.
