Keno Hotspot at the set from the movie Cocoon..... (long review but worth the reading). 3 hungover guys looking for 2 things- CRAB meat and BIG portions. I suggested Timbuktu and hyped it up the whole way on rt.100. We were not disappointed. Crabcake platter for myself, Smokehouse Trio for one meathead, Rib n Cake combo for the other..... Crab cake was all lump. Smokehouse trio had huge portions of pulled pork (very tasty) and brisket (decent and not dry). Ribs were so-so, kind of chewy. The place is under construction and kind of smelled like my buddy's basement growing up that had hint of mildew. I was able to get over the smell cuz it was masked by the bbq sauce on my upper lip and the wonderful aroma of post 2nd hand smoke (everybody in the joint smoked). Bathrooms here were kind of clean (A must after eating that much food- did I mention the trio came with baked beans....?) Cole Slaw portions were enough to feed somalia but I dont even think they would eat it- no taste..... Bartender was friendly and on the ball with refills and my many keno attempts at never having to work again. We sat at the bar amidst many older folk who were regulars (hence the title of this review). Friendly blue-collar atmosphere. Not sure why major league lax game was on main TV. I mean- Who wants to watch a young guy who doubles as a teacher try to score a goal.... Man that guy must be struggling... I doubt he'd be able to afford to eat the way our trio ate today..... BUT- if he has some leftover Christmas money; I'd suggest he use it wisely...... - A Feast at Timbuktu and $10 for some keno plays. This place ranks up there on my list of local Hon grubbing establishments- just under seaside. I'm going back after my next diet fails. The diet starts tomorrow so I'll be back in 48 hrs.

BOTTOM LINE: Huge portions..... Tasty food except for the cole slaw. They need to invest in some air fresheners

Great Seafood and Steak. I decided to go down to B-more for my birthday and asked a friend where I should eat. First she said she didn't like to eat anywhere in B-more then after a little thought she told me about Timbuktu, right outside of B-more. Glad she did!

I had the stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer...they were pretty darn good. Stuffed mostly with crab and good crab at that. I would have liked some mozzarella cheese melted on top, but other than that they were excellent. My boyfriend loved the cocktail shrimp. We both ordered the filt mignon for our entree and it was cooked PERFECTLY! We both like medium well steak and it was wonderful. Very tender and moist. The atmosphere was a little overwhelming for me because it is a LOT bigger than it looks from the outside. I wasn't expecting to sit among so many other people (including a few parties of 10+) but we were able to carry on a conversation without yelling. It was definitely worth the hour and a half drive from Philly...will plan better next time to make a day out of our visit.

Get Your Money's Worth!!. I have frequented Timbuktu's on several occasions -- twice with my boyfriend and once with my girls and each time it was an awesome experience!! You not only get superb food but you get a lot of it!! My Man and I love lobster night! Where else can you get a whole steam lobster for $8.99!! We're heading back tonight!!! Treat yourself and others!! Its worth the ride from DC!!!

Mediocrity. I got the surf and turf with a crab cake stuffed lobster shell. The crab cake was better than average, but not as spectacular as others have made it out to be. The filet was extremely bland as was the lobster. On the plus side, the wait staff was superb. Being an out of towner, I don't recommend this place to anyone visiting MD, spend your money elsewhere. Speaking of which, $50 was extremely excessive for such poor food.

Giant Crab Cakes. The crab cakes are so large you can barely eat the entire cake in one seating. All entrees are cooked from "scratch" and the portions are very large. Great service and the place to go it you are hungry and want some good home cooked seafood
