Of the two, the one at Snyder's was by far the BEST of crab cakes! Wonderfully seasoned, I got it both fried and broiled (prefered the broiled). My friend had a combination platter with clams (fresh and divine), scallops (also fresh and very tasty), a "fish steak," crab cake and a stuffed shrimp that was out of this world. Although white table cloth, the waitstaff was friendly and the restaurant had a homey atmosphere to it. My only complaint would be the huge slice of red onion served on the salad (a bit much). But, that's just me. Everything else (atmosphere, wait staff, food) was excellent. Would definitely recommend it and will come back the next time I come to Baltimore.
Best Fried Jumbo Crab Cakes anywhere; Excellent Service, Quality & Food Presentation; Enjoyable Atmosphere.. I was born & raised in Linthicum and this restaurant was always my favorite while I lived there 28 years ago. Now a Floridian, it has become traditional for me to dine there on any of my visits back to Maryland. The service, quality and food presentation are excellent. Their crabcakes are still my favorite with large chunks of succulant lump backfin meat delicately fried to perfection. No other can compare. For lunch, I enjoy their fried oyster sandwich and I've become a fan of their cream of crab soup comparable only to the Sunset's of Glen Burnie. Both restaurants are a fine dinning pleasure where small children should be excluded at evening meals and most of the time are. I found Snyders Willow Grove to be a pleasurable experience. This is my first-time message and I will return to Snyders again and again and again.
not up to par. We ate lunch at this restaurant that is supposed to be famed for its crab cakes. We tried a Crab and Cream Cheese dip for an appetizer, then I had the crab cake for main course. The dip was quite good, served with very crispy rusk slices and three wedges of a chip that looked like an oversize, triangular Doritos. Unfortunately the crab cakes did not live up to their reputation. It looked like a large ball of mashed potato that had been flash fried and there wasnt much of a crab taste to the ball. The accompanying fries were prepackaged frozen and the single slice of lettuce and accompanying beet slice looked rather forlorn.
