True Authentic Thai as Homemade as it gets!. This place is a simple, authentic Thai kitchen, located on Charles Street just 1 block north of Baltimore's Washington Monument, with a Chef who is making dishes the same way his mother made for him when he was a child.

They've had the same menu for 18 years and every dish is made to order. The Chef is fairly strict on substitutions or recipe changes but will make accommodations when possible (as stated on their menu).

All vegetables are fresh and steamed. The curry and sauces are light (not like gravy) and perfectly spiced. The tofu is always cooked perfectly light and firm without being chewy, tough or mushy. The chicken and shrimp is always fresh, well seasoned and cooked perfectly.

The quaint and personal dining area inside is accommodating for lunch or dinner with up to 4 people at a table, and you can watch the entire meal cooking process 10 feet from where you order it.

I am always excited to eat at Thairish. All the other Thai places just mush together into something less than memorable.

If all you eat is typical Pad Thai from your local restaurant or delivery joint, Thairish probably isnt the place for you... or perhaps they can open your tastebuds up to something better :)

Simple, Cheap, Amazing!. Not overdone like many over-Americanized Asian restaurants. Simple, healthy food. The ingredients compliment each other well. Plenty of spicy (and not-so-spicy) options. Vegetables are not overcooked. Food is prepared right in front of you because half of the restaurant is the kitchen. Best use of space ever! Who knew you could get such amazing food out of a hole in the wall?!

I've had Thai food in Thailand and in about 20 other countries and yet to see it done so poorly. Seriously you need to stay away from this place. I read negative online reviews before I went, but disregarded them because I thought they might have just been penned by foodie snobs who were eager to dis a cheapish take out spot with little ambience. Alas, this is not the case. While it is pretty cheap, it is a poor value for money as the portions are far from generous and the quality of the cuisine is worse than straight impostor. I had the staple dish of veggie pad thai (tasteless boiled tofu, few veggies other than broccoli, no peanuts in sight, noodles significantly overcooked, whole dish was essentially bare of sauce/flavor) and my friend had red curry (which seemed to be made with water rather coconut milk and was overall as lame as my pad thai). I also had a thai iced coffee and it was cheap also, but bitter and not enjoyable.

I must say that the service was really friendly and pleasant. But this almost worked as a disservice to them because it prevented me, out of pity and guilt, from telling them that I had just visited the worst Thai restaurant I had ever encounter in the world (and I've been to Thai restaurants in eastern europe and africa). These guys had better learn to step it up significantly because there are many awesome thai spots in baltimore these days and they will cease to exist if they don't drastically improve soon.

=(. The place looked promising, but was not. I got a red curry dish with tofu. It was bland; the rice seemed old, and the tofu was just kind of "there". The vegetables in my dish and my boyfriend's dish appeared to be frozen vegetables. It's a waste, but you get what you pay for.

Cult Thai. Thairish has been around awhile, and seems like everyone holds it in high reguard. They do not offer table service, you choose and pay, then find yourself a seat. There are not many tables, maybe four or five, and I ended up sitting at the bar along the wall. I have gone twice with quite a bit if time in between. Thairish offers reliable Thai food standards, and while satisfying, is not remarkable. The Thai iced tea is yummy, and is 99 cents. The green curry is spicy with coconut milk to buffer the burn, and is $8.00. Not bad for a meal under ten dollars, although I kinda wanted another shrimp - I got two or three on my plate. I was not yelled at during either of my visits, but I have heard from more than one person that Mr. Thairish loses his temper from time to time. Word on the street - it's advisable not to request any changes to an entree. If he were in a Seinfeld episode, he could be the "Thai N*zi". ( you are apparently unable to write n a z i on here)

Avoid this place!. We live next to the place. The food is not as crack up as everyone says it to be. The Pad Thai is very salty and has no taste. It is a hit or miss, depending on how the chief feels. 99% of the time, when we got desperate we'd order food there just to be reminded of how bad the food there is. I don't recommend this place at all!

Avoid the Pad Thai. If you are used to a taditional peanut flavored noodle with nice flavor you won't find it here. The noodles are bland as if something was forgotten. The portions are small. The red curry was good but the sauce was so limited in quantity it leavse you wanting more. Not the best value for your lunch money but seems popular among the locals.

User review by rjulie510. I went to Thairish with my friend for dinner after a mutual friend of us told this place was good. Unfortunately we had a chef yelling at us within few minutes we got there. The sauce in my phad thai was nothing but plain sauce sauce, and since the chef didn't bother to mix it well, some noodles were salty while others were bland. We could not help but notice egg was overcooked, and all vegetables were frozen vegetable. Not to mention small serving size. Overall food was bland and service was bad. We would not be going back to this place. I want to say that do not go to this place.

Awesome Food. Thairish is a great place to go. But don't try to go Monday b/c they are closed. The restaurant closes in the afternoons from 3 to 5 (i believe) but has some of the best food in the city. Inexpensive and delicious, you are bound to find something on the menu to suit your tastes. From not so spicy, to make your forehead sweat spicy there is something for everyone! It seems that almost everyone who goes to thairish goes at least twice a week. Not to miss, and be sure to try the Thai ice coffee!
