This grande dame of lunchroom dining has a salad to suit every taste.. The Scene
Ladies who lunch will appreciate the renovations which have given this venerable haunt a contemporary patina. In the spatious dining room, modern lighting enhances the old school, pinewood wainscoting and the dove gray walls lined with vintage Flower Mart posters (W.I.E.'s annual event). A large gilt framed mirror above a white marble fireplace is a testament to the building's history which dates back to the early 1800s.

The Food
The offerings evoke the simple goodness of grandma's house. Famed for chicken salad with tomato aspic, W.I.E. also offers other tried and true favorites like deviled eggs and tuna salad. Tasty alternatives stretch from a Reuben to Maryland crab soup. In a city were crustacean creations are seemingly de rigueur, the crusty but subtly flavored crab cakes may just be Baltimore's best value.
