Highly Recommended!!!.
NOTE: This restaurant changed ownership sometime around December 2007. Any reviews you see prior to that were based on the previous owners and staff. My opinion: the new ownership/management is a significant upgrade!
I cannot say enough about this restaurant. The menu, while limited (6-8 entrees), is chosen by the chef based on the freshest ingredients available. The selections are always flavorful, complex and subtle. During the recent "Restaurant Week", I had the cold tomato soup and pork confit, while my date had the BLT salad and pan-roasted hake. My meal was excellent, and my date's was delicious--albeit a bit (sneakingly) spicy with hot peppers served with the fish. (If you can, when it's on the menu, try the bacon toffee. I know, it sounds odd, but it is wonderful!)
Service was very attentive, and we got a good wine recommendation from our server. The wine list typically has 25-35 selections, covering a wide variety. Prices were $27-$90 per bottle.
I've dined here many times, and each time gets better. I enjoy their quaint bar (about 6 seats at the bar, and 3 tables available in the bar area).
It's a perfect place for a pre-show dinner at the Meyerhoff or the Lyric, or for a post-show drink & dessert. If you're going pre-show, however, I highly recommend reservations. The dining room has seating for approximately 75 people, and it fills up quickly.
