Editorial Review for The Prime Rib – by Rachele Lawton

The Scene
The Prime Rib calls itself "the civilized steakhouse" with just cause: The epitome of timeless elegance, dining here is an occasion worth anticipating. Black and gold-lacquered walls, leather chairs, elaborate flowers and piano music evoke times gone by when dining was a remarkable experience.

The Food

Although the seafood variety is outstanding, it's the "aged to perfection" beef that has sealed the Prime Rib's fame. The namesake cut is a colossal chunk of prime rib, always cooked to perfection that barely fits on the plate. Lamb chops are juicy and perfectly seasoned. The crab imperial does Baltimore's mascot proud, while the lobster bisque is thick and rich. Even the mashed potatoes, though they pale in comparison to a succulent filet or swordfish steak, are done just right.

While You Wait

Try The Prime Rib's famous pineapple martini made from premium vodka soaked with fresh pineapple. Chilled, shaken and served straight up or on the rocks, it's tasty and refreshing.

Im a steak buff. Love Rays, Mortons, Sam and Harry's and Ruth Chris. Prime Rib on Chase St in Baltimore? Good steaks, but our 8:30 reservation got us sat at 9:15. A sordid apology from the manager.... "sorry its restaurant week and we are busy". Lazy waiters, weak drinks, but the food was good. If you are just out with friends, service isnt a big issue, and you arent looking to impress, this is a good place for a great dinner with reasonable service. Nothing special, but nothing to complain about.

Pros: good steaks, nice atmosphere

Cons: poor service, lazy staff, better experiences elsewhere.

Hadn't been to the Prime Rib in awhile, but it's still oustanding! The Prime Rib entree is the best in town. Love the creamed spinach. And the service is perfect--quiet, efficient, friendly, totally professional. The live music makes a perfect environment.

Pros: Food & Service

Cons: Nothing
