Horrible service. Terrible prices. Inhospitable. Giovanna Aquia, one of the owners, lectured the birthday girl on (a) not ordering food quick enough (where was the waitress?) and (b) that Cafe Gia was doing us a FAVOR by allowing us to eat there. They also added a 100% non-negotiable alcohol tax, a $28 cake fee, and an exorbitant gratuity. I had an $18 entree and paid $34.50 due to the fees. I would never return here, on pain of death.
Don't get ripped!.
This is one of the worst restaurants I have ever been to. The owner is out front with her sign that says she won some kind of award that is probably a total lie. You are practically hussled in to the place. The eggplant parmasan I ordered had no eggplant! I would guess, based on what other people at the table ordered, that this restaurant reconstitutes frozen entrees.
Yuck, it was suppose to be a special night. I had a stomach ache most of the evening along with a big fat check..............
What a disappointment!
Little Italy's worst value. Service was TERRIBLE. Our waitress wanted to argue with us about bringing parmesan cheese. What the h***? Food was good, not great. Over-priced. My wife and I dined there, used a coupon for a free appetizer, there was a LOT of confusion with the check, then they automatically added a tip! Waitress says it was because we used a coupon! What the h***? Too bad. We WANTED to like it because the decor is charming. Will not be back. There's too many other fabulous Italian restaurants within two blocks, and they're less expensive with better food and better service. Bye, bye Cafe Gia!
Finally, really good Italian at affordable prices..
You've gotta go to Gia's! First of all, it's a BYOB and Bin 604 (wine store) is only two blocks away! But that's secondary to the excellent food Gia's is serving. The menu is small 2-3 apps, 8 or 9 entrees. I have been there 4 times and have had something different each time. It's all REALLY good. Chef Bruno, will come out to see how your meal is. Both Gia's (there's a mother and daughter) are there to ensure you are enjoying yourself. My favorites: Linguini and white clam sauce, Perciatelli (you never find this in restaurants) shrimp fra diavolo, and the amazing Frutti di mare - shrimp, scallops and rockfish in a light red sauce!!
Gia's is a cozy decor with faux painting from the Art Nouveau period. Great for everyone! Priced right!
