Popular and Good!. Whether you are having the buffet, a full dinner or drinks at the bar, Windows is the place to go. The food is exceptional with a fine variety. From seafood, steaks, chicken or vegetarian, you will find something you will enjoy eating. The atmosphere is cordial (not too friendly) and comfortable with a great view (especially from the bar. If you go at lunch during the week, you will need about 15 to 20 minutes extra over the traditional lunch hour. Windows is a very popular location.
Reservation Joke!. This place actually may have been decent, however if you even make reservations, be prepared to wait at least 45 minutes. We had reservations for 9:00 pm. They told us we had to wait at least 45 mions to an hr. That was just insane. Another couple who was standing next to us was having a few words with the manager, and not so polite. They had reservations for 9:00 pm as well.. and they were told the same thing. They manager tried to get us to go to the buffet, please! He didn't really try to offer any help upon getting us seated. The only thing that saved this disaster was the fact that they had a cigar lounge, in which you can order from the full dinner menu. So we sat there however it still wasn't the ambience that we wanted. The food was pretty good though. However service was horrible, I don't reccomend this place to anyone, and won't be going back again.
disaster bad service and food.
The service was bad. The lady who showed us to our tables was rude and quick. The food was overcooked and seemed to have been under a food lamp for hours. Will not visit again or take my real estate clients.
Avoid this place like the plague specially if you are expecting something for the price you pay.
Absolutely our favorite in Baltimore. Very lovely view of inner harbor. Creative menu. Excellent execution. Service is personal and attentive. We've had three different waiters (been back many times) and they are all great -- but Tom is the best. Even bus staff is nice. Prices not outrageous either. Convenient underground parking. Can't find something better overall than Windows in Baltimore!
Wonderful food, gracious and courteous service. It's worth every penny to enjoy this top-flight restaurant. Sous Chef John Payne is remarkably gifted and knowledgeable, and food presentation is as spectacular as preparation. Our degustation menu was perfectly paired with masterful wines for a most enjoyable evening. We were so glad to have put ourselves in the competent hands of the chef, and Tommy, our insightful and attentive waiter. We see a fine restaurant in Chef Payne's future -- and we will want to know where it is!
Extremely Fine Dining. Excellent view and great food. Be prepared to spend however. If you get a bottle of wine, appetizer, and entree you are looking at $150 for two people including gratuity. Other than that, the atmosphere is perfect, the wait staff is extremely professional, and the view looks right over the inner harbor. Definitely order the Crab Chowder. You can also just go to the bar next to the restaurant if you want to get a taste of the view.
Relaxed atmosphere, hearty food and an elevated view of the bay make for a worthwhile fine-dining experience at the Renaissance Harborplace Hotel..
The Scene
Located on the 5th floor of the Renaissance Harborplace Hotel, this restaurant has a great view of the harbor. Grandiose chandeliers offer sparkling elegance in a classy but casual environment.
The Food
Slurp down a few plump oysters from the raw bar to start, or choose one of the innovative appetizers from the menu. The award-winning Chesapeake Bay crab chowder is especially attractive served as it is in a bowl made of soft, chewy bread. Moving on to the entrees, the generously portioned smoked-duck appetizer, served with berries and molasses-fig sauce, is rich and seasoned to perfection. The champagne vinaigrette is outstanding atop a bed of baby spinach. Rack of lamb with sweet-potato puree is tender and flavorful, and the Georgian cod with crabmeat in rich, creamy Creole sauce is a great dish for seafood lovers. For dessert, the pumpkin creme brulee is interesting but small.
