Mo's Frequent Diner "No More".
My wife, I & my granddaughter have visited Moes Fisherman’s Wharf for the past 3 years for Thanksgiving & New Years Eve. Up until this last evening 12-31-2011, we thought the food was great & the service was excellent.
Last night was the worst experience I've ever had in an upper scale restaurant for a very long time. The service was satisfactory, but the meal & appetizers were a sad excuse for food.
The crab cakes were more filler than meat I would challenge anyone to find the crab meat in the cream of crab soup. My wife's crab lump au gratin was the nastiest thing I've ever had in my mouth.
We have also been patrons of this establishment’s sister restaurant Moes Fisherman’s Exchange in Towson Maryland for at least 20 years, up until about 3 years ago.
The quality of the food has fallen considerably, and he fact that they won’t serve their food on linen table cloths (paper covered tables) is a huge negative for me. I could see paper, if crabs were being served, but when I’m spending $100.00 plus for a meal, (?)
To say the least, I & my wife will never be returning to either of Moes reataurants.
It’s a sad shame as an owner, to become so greedy to actually sacrifice the quality you once were known for to pad your own bank account.
Worst Resturant Experience Ever. Upon entry the look the receptoion gave me should of been a warning sign that I should of made a round about and exit. I still took a chance while disregarding my instincts to leave. Always follow your instincts they are there to protect you. The service at Mo's Fisherman's Wharf is the absolute worst service I have ever encountered. They were rude when engageing conversation, left me unattended for significantly long periods of time. The food was served cold and not any where close to the standard that they claim to have. I was disappointed. And to top things off they imposed automatic gratuity on my bill when no one deserved a tip. I concluded that this is what thye have to do to get tips because they are fully aware that their service and food is of poor quality.
If you want good seafood mos is the best in baltimore. Every year me and my wife come down to Baltimore for a week and the first place we go is Mo's on president st . Very clean and smelled really good of seafood .when we enter we were greeted by a young female very friendly and happy to see us she then took us to a nice table by the window very cozy and quite. As we were getting settled in a young female greeted us. As you know that would be our sever. Her name was Brittany , very friendly and a great smile very happy to be at work smiled the whole time , never had to ask for a thing on top of every thing .She told us the specials very loud and clear and was very good with the details. She convinced us to get a few starters. My wife had the crab dip it was great jumbo lump meat and not to much cheese with fresh bread chips its a must you have to try . I got the cold trio app the best, the lobster was tender and fresh, well every thing was fresh but very taste full the jumbo lump crab meat was nice big junks of maryland crab meat and the shrimp was to die for. For our entrees me and my wife shared mos famous jumbo lump crab cakes. They were so big she couldnt even finish hers. All jumbo lump meat just a little filling and very fresh. when we were finished i was very impressed with everything the service was the best in town and the crab cakes you have to try if your in Baltimore . Don't listen to the negative comments cause they are so wrong if you don't believe me try it your self you wont be disapointed and ask for brittany
The WORST place I have ever eaten!. Tonight I took my mother and brother to eat at Moe's and it was the absolute worst food, worst service, worst cream of crab, worst, shirmp, worst food for value I have ever eaten!! Our server was an old man, who walked on the back of his sneakers, grumpy and just plain old nasty. The only "good" thing about our evening was that our server appeared to be a man that someone that pulled off the streets and gave a job to. The food is terribly overpriced, bland, and just downright nasty. I have eaten all over the world during my travels, from little cafes in Africa, to huts in Asia and bistros in Europe. Moe's was simply horrible. Do not waste your time or money. Stay away, stay far away from Campbell's Cream of Crab soup. If I could give it a minus one star I would. And yes, I splurged and got their "good crabcakes" they only I paid extra for was extra shells in the crabs.
AVOID!. We went on a Wed. evening and there were not very many people in there. We ordered an app. and entrees - no drinks. They brought out bread (very good - crispy on the outside soft inside) then they brought out the entrees - no appetizer... A few minutes later they brought the appetizer (Oysters Rockefeller). We though - that's okay - the kitchen messed up, not a big deal we'd just eat it with dinner. After tasting it, it was obvious that it had been sitting under a heat lamp for quite a while. We talked about complaining but our waitress was no where to be found. I had ordered grouper and asked that they make sure it does not get over cooked. I know grouper (grew up on the beach eating grouper regularly) - what I was served was over cooked and it was NOT grouper. All their fish dishes were the same price so I decided to just drop it when the waitress said it was grouper... To top things off, when we received the check - the tip was already added it 18% - for a group of 2! I was really irritated. I will not be going back, we told the concierge at the hotel who recommended it and will tell any one else who asks - Don't go to this tourist trap!
No incentive for customer service. We went to Mo's Fisherman's Wharf last night - for the last time. They charge a gratuity of greater than 15% automatically on every bill, whether a party of 8 or a party of 1. It's there on the menu in tiny print, but we didn't notice that until the bill came. That did explain a lot. Our meal was brought long before we had finished our salads, and the server simply pushed our plates around to add the new ones, without even any concern that the timing was off. When we found the spinach in the Oysters Rockefeller was gritty, we thought they had simply not been as careful with the oyster as they could have been - until we ate the oyster under the spinach and realized it had no grit in it at all. There were large pieces of shrimp shell in the seafood bisque - one almost an inch long. Finally, the steamed broccoli I was served had a chunk of carrot in it - then stem end that should have been in the trash. Our meal averaged $35 per person for 2 adults and 3 children - who ordered from the lunch menu. After expressing our concerns, we later received the bill. When we politely asked why there was nothing taken off of the bill for these problems, the server just said no and that's just the way it is. No apology, no conern. At one point she did say she'd mention it to the kitchen, but that was the extent.
