Baltimore's Ottobar. We were visiting Baltimore and my two sons wanted to go to this bar to see a band they were familiar with (Past Lives/Thermals) We had a great time. Once inside it was great. Drinks for dad not too expensive and I felt safe and we enjoyed a couple hours listening to music (I got a seat on the balcony overlooking stage where sound was not so overwhelming). So many different people and I actually saw 5 or 6 people close to my age. I don't know exactly what neighborhood we were in but Johns Hopkins U was a couple blocks away as I was informed by 3 students from JHU.

My favorite place to see live music. The Ottobar is my favorite place in Baltimore to see live music. Not to big, not to small, short or tall you can see from anywhere in the venue. A great place to see all the happening acts before they get "too big". Ottobar also brings some great bands into town that may otherwise just pass us by. Centrally located on Howard St, I am always happy to see a band is listed to play Ottobar and not one the "bigger" venues downtown, where parking is harder and admission is usually much higher. I hope Ottobar stays around for a long time.

Downtown venue books the cream of underground rock and local jazz.. In Short
Open since 1997, downtown Baltimore's Otto Bar has become one of the city's essential live-music venues, bringing in nationally touring acts and underground stars of the indie, punk, electronica and metal scenes. The interior may be beat up, but the hip, young clientele comes for music rather than atmosphere. Upstairs, the 21-and-older portion of the venue often features live jazz in the evenings and DJs later.

great events, great atmosphere. The old Ottobar kicked ass, but the newer one is, miraculously, even cooler. They have great shows and I always have a lot of fun when I go. I especially recommend the monthly "underground" dance party night.

The NEW Ottobar is on N. Howard!. Well, the title says it...the Ottobar moved a few months back and it's no longer a 'dark-alley bar'. It's much bigger and nicer than the old Ottobar, but still cheap and great for live music! Also, the monthly Brit-pop dance night is a can't miss!
