Yes this is a local haunt, but I think it is way over rated. The food is satisfactory, prices high, atmosphere is alright. The waitstaff are usually overtired and not always on thier toes. The bar scene if you are into that is the only thing I see that this establishment has going for it. Sorry I can not give it two thumbs up!

Another Baltimore institution. A great place to meet friends for lunch---or dinner. The waiters have been there forever and do a great job. And after lunch you can stroll the streets and shop. Getting a parking place is the trick.

We made Mother's Day reservations for early afternoon, and arrived early. We were seated slightly before the appointed time, and everything went down hill from there. We ordered drinks and appetizers; drinks were fine, appetizer order went 2 correct out of three. There was a very limited selection of crackers; no bread, no rolls, however they did offer us some "Danish". We placed the main order, and my wife requested a side dish of vegetables. She was told they were not available - - even though the vegetables were on the menu with another entree. After some negotiations, the waitress finally included the vegetables. After 25 minutes, the main course still had not arrived. I asked the waitress the cause of the delay and her response was that I ordered my steak "well done". After 45 minutes, the main course still had not arrived. I again asked the waitress what's taking so long. Her response was that our order was competing with other orders in the restaurant. After an hour and ten minutes, we advised another the waitress to cancel our order, give us our check, and we would go elsewhere to eat. She stated she would find out waitress and advise her. We were in the process of leaving when our waitress arrived with "cold steaks, tepid french fries, and a decent crab cake". As a member of our party was a diabetic, we finished the FIRST AND LAST MEAL EVER at Mt. Washington Tavern. Overall, the food was poor, the service very poor, and the rude treatment was in abundance.
