Never again!!.
We made Mother's Day reservations for early afternoon, and arrived early. We were seated slightly before the appointed time, and everything went down hill from there. We ordered drinks and appetizers; drinks were fine, appetizer order went 2 correct out of three. There was a very limited selection of crackers; no bread, no rolls, however they did offer us some "Danish". We placed the main order, and my wife requested a side dish of vegetables. She was told they were not available - - even though the vegetables were on the menu with another entree. After some negotiations, the waitress finally included the vegetables.
After 25 minutes, the main course still had not arrived. I asked the waitress the cause of the delay and her response was that I ordered my steak "well done".
After 45 minutes, the main course still had not arrived. I again asked the waitress what's taking so long. Her response was that our order was competing with other orders in the restaurant.
After an hour and ten minutes, we advised another the waitress to cancel our order, give us our check, and we would go elsewhere to eat. She stated she would find out waitress and advise her. We were in the process of leaving when our waitress arrived with "cold steaks, tepid french fries, and a decent crab cake". As a member of our party was a diabetic, we finished the FIRST AND LAST MEAL EVER at Mt. Washington Tavern.
Overall, the food was poor, the service very poor, and the rude treatment was in abundance.
Good Light Rail Stop. We had a party of twelve and the staff did well accommodating us. There truly is great ambiance in the dinning room. However, we went there on a sat. night at about 7:00pm. We came in the front door and had to come through "The Tavern" section to get to the main dinning room. This caused a lot of gawking on the part of the locals who were hanging out at the bar. No big deal we knew it was a tavern. However, in order to go to the bathroom you had to go back through the tavern area through a couple different closed doors. This led to more gawking especially towards the ladies who were uncomfortable with making this trip on their own and for good reason, the bar crowd was quite sketchy. So, great ambiance in the dinning area but the entrance and the bathroom were in the Mt. Washington hood. Aside from the awkward layout the place was nice for a large group. Not quite as good as advertised. The award winning seafood crab soup tasted like they used Campbell's Vegetable beef soup as a base. Big disappointment. In fact the majority of our party thought Campbell?s soup is better. They did have good steak and killer salad entrees.
nice dining room, but...... The ambience of the main dining room is GREAT especially on a nice day when they open the up roof. Burgers are the best thing on the menu here, most everything else is less than average. Waitstaff is cordial and they try their best, but the place seems understaffed. The booths also seem a little "crumby" and sticky.
Mt. Washington Tavern. Great Dining Room, good food, great staff and great neighborhood.
