You will go back again...and again...and again..... I found this place by accident one morning. Get there early or be prepared to wait. I always pick up a copy of the City Paper in case of a wait. Don't sweat it, all the food is piping hot and tasty. I'm partial to the corned beef hash and the pancakes.

Sometimes, just down the block, there's a farmer's market happening (weekends). Good stuff. Don't sleep on this place. Prices are awesome, service is fast, once you get a seat.

Legendary breakfast hangout offers home-cooked meals for those on a budget.. "Once the client comes in, they're family" should be the motto of this friendly spot around since the 1930s. Busy and noisy, the place is always crowded especially since the only seating is at the counter. Yet, comfort food and congenial atmospere keep patrons coming back. Blueberry waffles seem to be the most popular breakfast choice, getting praises from tourists and regulars alike. The service is fast and the prices reasonable.

HEY HOW ARE YA!!!. ...is what you hear as soon as you walk in to petes. you want breakfast? go to petes. you want to show someone baltimore? take em to petes. you wanna see if miss tanya is wore her pink dress with the little red roses on the sleves to 9 o'clock mass this morn? go to petes. grits, barstools, blacks, southerners, scrapple, asians, seniors, college kids, whites.....do me a favor though, dont go on sunday mornings. thats when i go.

don't go...you wouldn't like it.. I would love to tell you great things about Pete's, like the value, the outstanding traditional diner fare, and the entertainment value of watching the very friendly staff maneuver the tiny space with amazing efficiency, but then you might go there, and frankly, the line is too long already. Find another breakfast place...Pete's is MINE! And if you do go, don't show up with six people. It's counter service only, and you can feel the rage directed at large parties by other patrons.
