lorih – I have been going to Pizza John's since I was a kid and you could only carry out. They have the absolute best pizza anywhere! I have lived in Texas for 18 yrs now and every time I go home, this is the first place I go. The cheese steaks are to die for. My Dad even overnighted me a pizza one year. I bring two back with me to Texas whenever I'm there and they always remember me and special wrap them. Pizza John's will always be the best. Wish there was one here!
Disappointment – WRONG ORDER 50% OF TIME!
I have been a dedicated Pizza John person since they where a 333 1/2 (down the road from present location). I now am not going to go there anymore because in the last 3 year when I order a plain cheese steak sub or a pizza I get something in it I did not order. Just today I tried to give them another chance a ordered a pepperoine pizza, What I got had onion and mushrooms in it. This never happen in the past and many time I have told them and the problem still exist.
If you do not mined having thing you did not order in your meal the food is great.
The best around – I was there when they first opened. I was just a young child. I live in Chesapeake, Va now but when I go there to visit, it is the first place I go when I visit Baltimore. When I think of my home town Baltimore, I always think of Pizza John's. When I take my grown children there to visit my parents gravesite, that is the first place they want to go. I went there a couple months ago and the people who were there when I was a child are still there. I am now 50. It still stands while I went to Mars Estates Elem School, Deep Creek and then Kenwood High. I recommend Pizza Johns to everyone. You will not be disapointed. Marsha Way
Best Pizza on the East Coast! – I have been going to Pizza Johns for 20 years and I have not had a better pizza anywhere in the country yet. The pasta and subs are out of this world too. If you are looking for the best tasting pizza then Pizza Johns would be your place!
WOW!!! – The BEST pizza. When I am at work I suggest it every day for lunch, even though it is about 30 miles away. The peperoni they use tastes SOOOO good. I grew up a couple miles from Pizza Johns, and would walk there after school all of the time. The sauce on the pizza is great. I have NEVER been disapointed. The meatball subs are great too. The meatballs are so big the end of the roll is plugged with a hunk of bread. Also the garlic bread is wonderfull. A peperoni pizza and an order of garlic bread from Pizza Johns is just too good to put into words. I worked for a year at an other pizza resturant and I can say that the best pizza I had from where I worked was not as good as the worst Pizza Johns pizza I had.
When the word pizza johns comes to mind, i think clean, friendly, and very good food. Besides eating there myself, i work there. I am in the dinning room, some of you may have seen me. Pizza johns is a very good place to bring the kids to eat. Parking spots are alaways avabile...great place :)
Should have been #1 – A staple for decades, everyone who has ventured to this little venue in Essex will never forget this pizza. Not only will a pie with the works and a pitcher of Killians cost you under 20$, but its bustling atmosphere makes the journey that much more fun. And one of the best qualities is that you watch your food being made through glass partitions- watch your food being prepared in a kitchen so clean, you'd swear you could eat off the floor! With decor out of a Roman trattoria, and a great selection to boot, Pizza John's makes every other pizzeria in Baltimore pale in comparison.
Pizza John's – This is the best pizza I have had. The sauce you can tell is not from a can. The cost might be a dollor or two more, but you will not be disappointed!
I would recommend reservation if you plan to dine in at night.
Pizza Johns should have gotten 1st place for best pizza in Baltimore. Fresh to order, home made pizza. The prices and quantity of food can't be beat. We can take our family of 5 and get 2 large pizzas and 2 pitchers of soda and pay less then $30.
Just writing about it makes me want to drive from Highlandtown to Essex, But they are closed today.
Great Food Great Value – Pizza Johns may have been small in the past but if you have not driven passed recently you wouldn't know what was going on. They are adding more seating. They are continuing the seats that have the view of the road along both sides of the restaurant to please the many customers who would rather eat there than take the pizza home. Their 'the works' pizze is my family's favorite and it is a wonderful price. Just because the restaurant is in Essex doesn't make it a bad... try it for yourself and you will see!
