In Short – This is everything a sports bar should be: casual, loud and collegial. The front bar, with dark wood, exposed brick and a number of TVs, is as comfortable as your own den. The large upstairs bar, where pool and foosball dominate, is akin to a rec room, with 34 satellite-fed TVs. This joint goes beyond standard pub fare with big baskets of shrimp simmered in beer and encrusted with Baltimore's Old Bay seasoning. As for beer, the selection is not flashy, but with a rotating menu of at least 25 beers on tap, it's ample.

Not the Place for a Private Event

by TeresaF

I called with questions about holding a birthday party at Looney's and was given the owner's email address. I wrote to request details (room, availability, pricing, minimums, etc), as none of it was listed online. He replied with a curt, "check our website for info". I explained that specific information was not available online, which was why I was asking. I felt his response was extremely rude and unhelpful. I told him not to expect my business. He replied with "have a lovely day". This is certainly not the way I would respond to my customers, especially as the OWNER of the business and especially not in this economy. How disappointing.

The Details on Looney's

Parking:

With no garages or lots close by, parking is scarce in this neighborhood. Your best bet is to head one block west to the intersection of O'Donnell and Kenwood. When neither the church nor the school are in use, you can usually snag a spot on the street.

Save Money:

The Tuesday night discount on burgers brings the price of these mammoth sandwiches (served with fries) to under $5.
