Good after a night of studying or drinking... – Of all the things I miss in Baltimore, I seriously miss going to the Double T after spending the night writing a paper or out drinking with friends. Sure, you get what you pay for--the food isn't top-notch stuff--but it IS open late, and the food's pretty good for the price. I say that having spent my broke college years in Baltimore. Also, the staff is friendly, and they are easy to establish rapport with.
Not your typical diner – When it comes to diner food and atmosphere, this establishment wins hands down. From the friendly staff and waiters to the quickness of service, the Double TT can't be beat. Next time we're in Baltimore, it's dinner there for me and the misses so we can sample some of those fine desserts on display at the counter as you wealk in.
Positively Average – Food is average diner food. Fine for late night dining. I have had trouble with the service. We visited at about 4 in the afternoon. Our food was fine. The server ignored our requests for coffee refills (we had not asked for repeated refills, just the one) and water refills. Then, even there were only two average people seated at our table, she added a tip to the check.
We liked It – My boyfriend and I work late so its great late at night. When we go we usually order breakfast. The portions are so large that we always have to take some home. My favorite is the waffle, his is the Strawberry Malt Milkshake.
A big pseudo-chrome facade signals suburbanites to pull over for comfort food. – The Scene
Started in 1959, this local chain references its natal decade with broadly executed, non-invasive design elements. Patrons won't find waitresses in poodle skirts or chefs with Elvis hairdos. Instead, expansive dining areas--twice the size of their milkshake-making predecessors--feature countless high-backed booths with formica tables and a small counter with padded, spinning stools. Located primarily alongside highways, these tamed down truck spots have successfully targeted the SUV-driving masses.
Quantity takes precedence over quality in a menu that fills one oversized, laminated spiral notebook with ease. Eggs, burgers, sandwiches and salads are all accounted for with expected fare coming in myriad variations. That means pancakes are topped by strawberries, blueberries, chocolate chips or apple raisin cinnamon as well as syrup; poultry and fish are prepared alfredo, marsala and caprese. A handful of Greek specialties acknowledge the founders' ethnicity but this bustling enterprise is more a tribute to the American entrepreneur than a Mediteranean expatriate.
"T" is for Terrible – After numerous recommendations from a single source, my family decided to try the Double T. To put it simply, I should have driven to Burger King (in fact we did right after to eat a "real" meal). After paying a full-resturant fare, I expected a resturant quality meal; however, I was sorely dissapointed. In addition, the service was so slow the experience took over an hour. To sum it up: "Blah."
Value??? – Double T Diner is many things, a great value certainly isn't one of those. Honestly it seems like a diner with a complex, almost like it really, really wishes it where a real restaurant. When I think diner I think cheap food fast. Double T doesn't deliver on either end. The food is very pricey especially considering the quality. If I pay $8 for a burger I expect a darn good burger, not something the quality of a fast food joint. If you need food fast, keep going. It's rare to get your order(even if it's just fries and coke) in under half an hour. To sum it up; if it's between 2 and 5AM then yeah it's ok, but if you have other options(even if it's going to 7-11) take them!!!!!!!!
overpriced – Everyone told us we needed to eat at this resaurant when we first moved into the area. We tried it twice, food is mediocre at best, and it is pricey.
A "Sinful" Experience – Visit 2 or 3 times a year and never miss having a meal at the Double T. Thanks for the extra pounds.
Something for Everyone – This is a great place to eat, period. Bring the family, bring your friends or come alone. This is a comfortable, friendly place to eat and a fun place to visit. There is something on the menu for EVERYONE! The service is fast and friendly and the coffee is great.
