Great food and interesting music. Loved the clientele and the food. They always seem to have a crowd and a good time there. The place is local and friendly. Try some of the beers they have there because its a nice selection and fresh.
I can never say enough good things about JPs. I've been frequenting J. Patrick's on and off now for 14 years and if it wasn't for the distance (I live in Virginia now) I would be there every weekend. There is always something going on - from live music Friday - Sunday nights, to Irish sessions during the week, to a monthly Ceilidh (Irish dance) every second Sunday of the month. The pub fare is good, the beer is even better, and the bartenders, Joe (the owner) and Jim (his long time sidekick) are the best. It's probably one of the quaintest most down to Earth pubs you will find - it's actually situated in a row of townhomes and you won't find that in any new development! So if you are looking for excellent music and service in a very "Cheers" like setting, you won't be disappointed.
good food at a great price. Very nice family owned bar with a good selection of drinks and daily specials. Irish bar with a huge party on Saint Pattys Day.
Music of the homeland on the weekend; Harp and Guiness on tap every day..
In Short
In the shadows of the Domino Sugar plant, this bar with the windowless facade borders on the gigantic. Inside patrons have access to a rectangular-shaped bar, a performance space, and over a half-dozen tables. It devotes itself to having the finest beers on tap. For those with less discriminating tastes, bottled beers and a wide selection of liquor are also available. Irish bands play Friday through Sunday. Thursdays are reserved for jams.
This Wee Leprechaun Misses J. Patrick's. My hubby and I used to frequent J. Patrick's some years ago. We live here in Sussex County, Delaware and still have not found a really good Irish Pub; J. Patrick's isn't fancy, isn't pretentious; it is a good ol' neighborhood pub with a little extra thrown in.....the Irish!!! Mr. Byrne should think about opening up a place over here; there is no real competition for a genuine Irish Pub and then my hubby and I would have a place to down a few Killians and Guinness! We miss J. Patrick's and the music and the people! Love to you all!
Traditional Music is great.. I loved J.Patrick's. The music is always terrific and the Guiness is just as good. Don't go for fine cuisine, go for atmosphere. Doesn't take credit cards, so bring cash.
