Not a good experience. A bunch of friends and I made reservations at Vespa to celebrate a major event, as there aren't many top-tier restaurants in Baltimore. We were prompt, polite, well-dressed ... and treated with astonishing rudeness by our waitress. I won't give a point-by-point recap, but it would have been unacceptable even at a much humbler place, and I would have walked out had I been alone. Some of the food was excellent (some, not so much) but you can have a better overall experience somewhere else.

Wonderful!. Great restaurant -- interesting menu and great service. Even on a cold winter night there was enough energy in the room to keep everyone warm.

This chic Federal Hill cafe serves updated Italian cuisine with gourmet flair.. The Scene
Vespa's look is eclectic, mixing warm citrus-toned walls and terracotta tile floors with corrugated metal walls and an exposed-beam ceiling. The crowd, too, is eclectic, from hipster twentysomethings to even hipper couples in their 60s.

The Food
The accent is Italian but the cuisine is far from traditional. Unusual and familiar blend in dishes like conchiglioni (shells) tossed with rock shrimp and vodka-spiked spicy tomato cream sauce. Unexpected appetizers include sambuca- and coffee-marinated salmon. Or try an arugula salad with grilled octopus in a slightly sweet, slightly smoky blood orange vinaigrette. Vespa's beef tenderloin has won raves in the recent past.

GREAT DATE PLACE. Terrific little place - with the option of dining on the outdoor terrace or inside with the dimmed lighting and jazzy music playing in the background - We had our pick of seats. The wait staff was very attentive and accomodating & recommended a great bottle of wine. While not an extremely extensive menu selection, it is varied & there is something for everyone. We shared the pasta w/shrimp? can't remember the name, but it was FABULOUS! And while they were closing up, they let us sit & talk as we finished our bottle of wine. I have been recommending this place to all of my friends!

wowwie. we really enjoyed our late supper at "Vespa's".the wait staff was attentive,yet not too pushy.The food was different,yet very tasty! We will definatly return time and time again...
