The Scene – At this diner, waitresses greet longtime customers by name and stick a candle into the dessert when birthdays roll around. Bel-Loc's counter and cozy vinyl booths make it look like a freeze frame from 1964, the year it opened. At a time when most restaurants don't welcome smokers, the Bel-Loc hostess greets diners with the question, "Smoking or nonsmoking?" A side dining room permits smokers to puff away while they eat. – – The Food – No surprises here: just beefy burgers, turkey with gravy and crispy fried fish. Classic diner favorites tend to be…

Editor's Tips

Quiet Riot:
As with any family-oriented restaurant, the Bel-Loc can be noisy at times. This is not the place for quiet introspection.

A True Authentic Diner

by J Binstock

A Baltimore area institution. Friendly wait staff, tasty and reasonably priced meals and desserts. This IS the real thing and not a replica. Just like something you see in 50s-60s films. Crank up the table jukebox and have a blast.

  • Pros: Great Food and Service
  • Cons: May no longer open 24 hours during the week

Oh that Raisin French Toast!!

by theislandgirl

The Bel-Loc is a favorite diner of ours! When we are in the Towson area, we make it a point to have a meal there...we always seem to make it there for breakfast, which is a good thing because the Bel-Loc has the most awesome raisin french toast! Other goodies include SOS and very fresh orange juice! Prices are decent and the Bel-Loc is a breath of fresh air compared to the some of the "larger" diners in the area (the locals know who I mean) where breakfast goes up on weekends and holidays:(. I love their mugs of coffee!

  • Pros: Very Tidy, Outstanding service, Good Value
  • Cons: , Can be crowded

An alternative to Denny's

by minstrelette

Sometimes this place seems sad- lonely people sitting alone in the wee hours of the morning. And sometimes this place has a community feel- everyone knows everyone else and the waitresses join in all the conversations. Sometimes this place seems like it's gone downhill- the servers have bad attitudes and the food is almost inedible. But if you're in the mood for an omlette at 4:00 AM, this place sure beats Denny's. You can even play tunes on the juke box for 25 cents.

Get Breakfast Hon!

by guvna2

Quick and cheap, that's breakfast served Bel-Loc style. Nothing better than bacon and eggs with their coffee. The waitresses are typically Baltimore.

  • Pros: Fast Service, Inexpensive, Separate Smoking Area
  • Cons: Small Parking Lot
