This place is on my personal Best of Baltimore list. It's definitely quirky--don't bother if you are expecting tour de France bikes and a rack full of $200 jerseys sold by tattooed hipsters with tree trunks for thighs. Baynesville specializes in vintage bikes and inexpensive, quality repairs, and I have always found them friendly, helpful, and fast. A bike shop for regular folks.
I'll never spend another $ in Baynesville Bike Shop. The owner was rude to my son Alex for the last time, today. That's a shame, I've enjoyed shopping there for parts for project bikes in the past. Evidentally there's a new owner. NOTE TO OWNER: Learn how to speak to people on the phone! Alex was polite to you, and even EDUCATED YOU about a bike/scooter he owns. You were ignorant to him, and that was uncalled for. There are other owner-operated shops within driving distance, with folks that have always treated us great.
Wow. Took my hybrid bike in for a tune up. The thing was PERFECT when I got it back. Had expected to pay $ 120 or so -- the usual. Instead < $70; had money left to get some equipment. The owner was great and so was his employee. Wow. Pinching myself.
The perfect bike!.
I was looking for a bike for my daughter who is 10 years old and tall enough for an adult bike, but I just didn't want to pay the $300-400 that the hipster bike shops were asking for an entry-level bike. Did I mention that she's TEN?
Tried a Wal-Mart bike, got it home and the gears were out of whack. Shocker! Took it back the next day.
Craigslist was unhelpful, mostly just used Wal-Mart bikes. And with Craigslist, you're on your own after purchase.
Then, by some miracle, I found Baynesville online, called them and found out that they sell only used bikes. Bingo! She test rode three bikes, and we brought one home. So, for only $190, we got a $350-value bike in really good shape. Plus, they guarantee their work.
The guys who work there are incredibly kind and patient. I'd SO much rather give my money to them than to a hipster bike shop.
Not fancy but a great place.
I went to some of the local flashy shops to get by bike repaired. All they wanted to do was sell me a new very expensive bike, I just wanted to get my bike repaired. When I found this place I was taken care of, bike repaired and for a great price. I will use them again.
They do lawn mower repair also. Different, bicycle and lawn equipment repair, it works for me. .
Best value for repairs.. I decided to take my bike here for a repair, after disappointment with a local "hip" shop. I was very pleased with the value, friendly service, and turnaround time. It easily surpassed the other shop on all counts.
Great lawn mower repair and tune-up service. Belying its name, Baynesville Bicycle Service is the best place I've found for a spring lawn mower tune-up. Brought mine in dead as Julius Ceasar and got it back in a week working like the servile machine it is.
