A big pseudo-chrome facade signals suburbanites to pull over for comfort food..
The Scene
Started in 1959, this local chain references its natal decade with broadly executed, non-invasive design elements. Patrons won't find waitresses in poodle skirts or chefs with Elvis hairdos. Instead, expansive dining areas--twice the size of their milkshake-making predecessors--feature countless high-backed booths with formica tables and a small counter with padded, spinning stools. Located primarily alongside highways, these tamed down truck spots have successfully targeted the SUV-driving masses.
The Food
Quantity takes precedence over quality in a menu that fills one oversized, laminated spiral notebook. Eggs, burgers, sandwiches and salads are all accounted for with expected fare coming in myriad variations. That means pancakes are topped by strawberries, blueberries, chocolate chips or apple raisin-cinnamon as well as syrup; poultry and fish are prepared alfredo, marsala and caprese. A handful of Greek specialties acknowledge the founders' ethnicity but this bustling enterprise is more a tribute to the American entrepreneur than a Mediterranean expatriate.
Great late-night eats!. The Double T is a savior for those of us who, even after several beers, would rather eat dirt than go to a dump like Denny's! The Double T menu has a great selection, and the food is pretty good. Add in a cool atmosphere and you have a great after-hours joint ( or before-hours for that matter )!
GOOD FOOD IF YOU HAVE THE MONEY. THE DOUBLE T DINER IS A GREAT EXAMPLE OF WHAT DINERS ONCE WERE. THEY HAVE THE STYLE, CUISINE, EVEN THE STAFF TO PULL OFF THE GREAT AMERICAN DINER. THE OPERATION ALSO BOASTS ONE OF THE LARGEST MENUS I HAVE EVER SEEN AS WELL. HUGE PORTIONS MAKE SURE YOU LEAVE STUFFED. THE DESERTS,,, OH MY THE DESERTS. THEY SOMETHING FOR EVERY SWEET TOOTH ON PLANET EARTH. SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE? WELL THEY ALSO HAVE SOME OF THE MOST EXPENSIVE DINER FOOD I HAVE RUN ACROSS. UNLESS YOU ONLY WANT A BURGER PLAN TO SPEND ABOUT 15 TO 20 DOLLARS A PERSON BY THE TIME YOU LEAVE.
Not Cheap. Double T Diner is not cheap at all, especially if you're feeding 5 people. I don't think that the food is all that great for your money either.
WOW !.
This place is da Bomb, Fast and Great Service,
If you are in the Annapolis area, One visit and you're hooked !
yummy yum yum. My faviote meal there is breakfast and when I go ther with my spouse or a group of friends i pig out on the pan cakes with all the trimmings
greek. Food was plentiful, good taste and ok service.Good crab cakes.Salads were big and fresh. You almost always take home some of your food.
cj. When one goes to the doulbe t , you will find a menu for all tastes. This is a great place to take that " picky eating" friend of yours . The food is served promptly and comes correct . I recomend this place to people of all walks of life .
if you're not picky.... you'll like this place. don't dare order home fries after breakfast hours. yuck. sure the portions are huge, but the lack of flavor is there. i can't believe this isone of "the best" on these lists. just proves people are too picky when it comes to food in this region. smaller towns in western maryland have far tastier fare than this culturally diverse area.
