I've been coming here for over 20 years. I've lost count of how many cars of mine and the families they have replaced brakes, rotors, oil, tires, headlights on and half a dozen other mechanical issues.
Every time they have been friendly and 100% reliable. And as far as price...more than fair.
More so...they have never recommended any service that wasn't absolutely necessary. In fact, most often, they fixed what was critical and would give me a timeline on other things to address later so I would not be hit all at once with the expense.
I have come to know Jun the owner and would consider him to be an honest person, mechanic and businessman.
Therefor I recommend Meineke Car Care Center in Cockeysville.
Meineke Cockeysville – Where Greed + Incompetence Collide – Recently I took my Jeep Grand Cherokee to Meineke Car Care Cockeysville on York Rd right across from Target. The heater wasn’t working correctly, and I was informed I needed a new heater core and several other related parts that controlled air flow. The quoted price very high but I trusted them like a fool and gave them the go-ahead to do the work.
I go to pick up the car, and owner/manager, Jun Pak, tells me everything is working perfectly. After writing a check for almost $3500, I drive off and after a while I notice there is no heat WHATSOEVER coming out of the vents. I take the car back, and Jun says he’ll have another look. He calls me the next day telling me another motor related to the heater now needs to be replaced. As you’ll recall, he said previously that everything was working perfectly the last time I came for the car.
To make a long, unsavory story short, I end up taking the car back 3 times, always told I need yet another new part to get the heat working properly. After $3500 and 3 trips back to Meineke to fix the same thing, I finally put my foot down on the final request for more cash to get it working correctly and said they need to complete the repair at no further cost to me. Pak refused. In a long conversation trying to convince him otherwise, Pak revealed that he tested everything related to the heater when I picked up the car initially and everything was working. I inquired as to whether they guarantee their work? He told me yes, and I countered with the fact that the guarantee should then kick in because the heater is still malfunctioning less than a month later. Pak steadfastly refused to lift a finger without the further prospect of more cash.
Needless to say, following up both by email and phone to Meineke Corporate was a complete waste of time. When I looked up their BBB rating and the big, fat “F”, everything suddenly started to make sense.
Crooked Meineke operation won't respond to BBB complaint! – In followup to my post regarding Meineke COCKEYSVILLE and owner Jun Pak refusing to complete a repair to my vehicle after I paid them in full for the repair (over $3000 cash), I just heard back from the Better Business Bureau (BBB) regarding the online complaint I filed against them.

You'll also note that the there is a mouse-over link on the "Complaint regarding repair issues" that reads:

The BBB has clearly contacted Meineke COCKEYSVILLE (owner Jun Pak) in an attempt to resolve this rip-off/problem, AND THEY DON'T EVEN RESPOND.
Meineke COCKEYSVILLE/Jun Pak doesn't even care enough about his reputation or the reputation of his business enough to even *respond* in any way to a BBB complaint! IS THIS THE KIND OF BUSINESS YOU WANT TO TRUST WITH ONE OF YOUR MOST EXPENSIVE POSSESSIONS??? Mr. Pak didn't even deny the BBB complaint I filed!
To recap, I was seriously ripped off at MEINEKE COCKEYSVILLE (across from Target on York Road) after paying over $3000 to cover the cost to COMPLETELY repair my vehicle.
1) I had to bring my car back 3 times to keep getting the same thing repaired again and again.
2) The last trip back, owner Jun Pak refused to do any further work on my car - why shouldhe? He already had all of my money.
3) I complained directly to the owner - Pak, and he refused to do anything at all.
4) I contacted Meieneke on their corporate web site and filed protracted complaints with several follow-up emails. They do not return any of my communications.
5) I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and MEINEKE doesn't even bother responding to the complaint (which lowers their BBB score btw).
In conclusion, I won't be letting up here until I recieve complete justice. My next course of action is a lawsuit filed in Baltimore District Court in Towson against both Meineke Cockeysville/Jun Pak *and* Meineke corporate.
PLEASE AVOID THESE CLOWNS AT ALL COSTS! Or you will be the next victims posting negative reviews here!
Meineke Cockeysville only good at 1 thing - take your money! – I'm glad someone has posted about this place. I take car there for major repair and after 3 times bringing car back - still not fixed! Every time manager Pak want more money from me .. like some kind of bait and switch operation. It's like they fix 25% of your problem after you pay them high price quoted for complete repair, then you have to come back and Pak want more money .. says something else needs to be fixed to get it all working! AFter a 3rd trip back, i can't believe my ears .. Pak want more money AGAIN for another related repair! I can't believe my ears!! NOW THEY HAVE ALL CASH, AND CAR STILL NOT WORKING.
I complain to Meineke customer service and they do not even return my phone call anymore. They just try to get rid of me by ignoring my emails and calls. They also don't care about problem, only your money.
I agree this place very shady and deceptive operation. All about money, money, money - no repair. No quality or customer satisfaction is important to this company .. only money and get rid of you as fast as possible.
PLEASE DO NOT GO TO MEINEKE - ESPECIALLY MEINEKE COCKEYVILLE!!
BEWARE - THIS SHOP IS A TOTAL RIP-OFF!! – I used to go to this shop for years and went there recently to get a lot of work done to a used car that I just bought. Unfortunately I never took the time to figure out that this is an individually owned franchise and had just been sold to this Jun Pak person a couple years back. I had some major problems with my heater which is a horror story on it's own (save that for a future post when I have time to write that up).
One of the things that failed on the MD inspection was "exhaust leakage". The inspector noted that it was probably related to the manifold. I took the car to this Meineke shop, and they told me I needed a new manifold. They wanted $390 for the new manifold plus labor, which I believe was over $400. I was floored at the cost, so I DID SOMETHING VERY SMART - I took the car elsewhere.
I went to a shop near my work - Top Tech Auto Center on Keswock Road in Hampden. After talking with the manager and the mechanic, I felt like they had a good handle on my problem - they indicated that I did NOT need my manifold replaced and that all I needed was 2 broken bolts and the gasket replaced. I left the car there to have the work completed.
Total cost was $260 with the parts. The car passed the MD inspection immediately after this fix.
MEINEKE COCKEYSVILLE: $800
TOP TECH AUTO: $250
You do the math. Meineke Cockeysville is a TOTAL RIP-OFF.
Beware of these clowns or they will be visiting the new Arundle Mills Casinos living it up on your nickel while you are forced to brown bag it from now on after making an unwise decision to have work performed here.

My Money (GONE). My Choice (BAD). My Meineke. My MISTAKE! – It looks like I can only pick a rating between 1-5 stars, so I''m picking although I would like to indicate that this is a NEGATIVE star!
If you're thinking of visiting Meineke in Cockeysville right across from Target (owner Jun Pak), RUN, don't walk, to the nearest exit, get in your car (or call a tow truck if needed), and get the hell out of there.
I went to pick up my car after a boat load of work (horror story for another day), and Jun told me everything was working perfectly. The mechanic drives my car out of the bay and parks it out in front. I pay the bill and leave. As soon as I pull out onto York Road, my car starts shaking violently! It scared the crap out of me! I immediately pulled onto a side street and the mechanic from Meineke (Dean) pulls up beside me in his SUV screaming out of his window "DON'T MOVE!!" He walks over to my car with a huge torque wrench.
The idiots sent me out into busy traffic with loosened bolts on all 4 wheels. Unbelievable!
The mechanic actually rode my car out of the bay and surely felt the same violent shaking and sent me out into traffic anyway. I could have been killed.
Jun game me some rediculous excuse that vandals must have come onto the lot late at night, targeting my 10 year-old car and only my car, loosened all the bolts (not stealing the premium rims or brand new tires), and quietly left. RIGHT. I totally believe that one. Funny that their surveillance camera didn't pick up these "vandals". Anyway, I paid the bill and got the hell out of there.
A few days later all the air in one of the tires (brand new tires Meineke put on the car) deflated. I refilled it, and another tire since has started losing air. The rims *were* in perfect condition. I'm taking the car to another shop to have the rims taken off and have the rims, bolts and lug nuts all inspected .. I'm sure the wheel bolt threads at the minimum sustained damage from the severe wobbling. Who knows what else is damaged at this point.
Don't make the same mistake I made - steer a very wide berth around this place. If you do, when you go to pick up your car, be prepared to drop your skirt or trousers and grab your ankles.
In 4 words - Complete and total Incompetance.
