I have been with Alleycat for about 3-years or so. Do not change your garbage service from Harford Sanitation! They are not as cheap as they used to be. The cost per quarter is now about $86. The service and customer service received from AlleyCat is horrible. It is a constant battle with them about picking up my trash 2x a week, plus recycling; and it has only gotten worse. We call, and they try to throw the blame on us saying they picked it up or the can wasn't out there. I shoot back and advise my trash has been outside at the corner of my driveway since Friday night (now Tuesday). They check with dispatch, and they come back with a new excuse, we have new drivers on this route. I pay for trash 2x a week, and I am lucky if I get 1x a week. I don't even call them about recycling anymore, because their response is always the same, recycling is a courtesy.
Another customer mentioned their letters - what a joke! Instead of saying "thank you for your business," Alleycat is very rude. I don't know what type of education these people have received, but what I do know is that their use of the English language and grammar is atrocious. I often have to read their communications 2 or 3x to understand what it is they are trying to convey. The communications lack punctuation, proper English and worst of all, many misspellings. If you are using a Word processor, use spell check!
Once my quarter is up, I am going back to Harford Sanitation! Hopefully, I will avoid the cancellation fee.
The only thing positive over AlleyCat vs. Harford Sanitation is that AlleyCat does have more respect for your property, i.e the trash cans. They have always been very good about putting them back in my yard w/the lids still in place. However, this is not enough to keep my business. I don't have time to call them every week to inquire about why my trash wasn't picked up, and then get in an argument with them over it.
DO NOT USE! I have "used" their services since they started. Although they were very good in the beginning, that has ended, as has their customer service! We pay for trash pick-up 2 times per week and recylcling 1 time per week. We are lucky if we have a truck through here ONE time per week. The trash and recylcling piles up and then one truck picks it all up!! When you call the office, you get an attitude from the "supervisor" Virginia and she blames it on the customer!! Have CANCELLED their service!

Your trash will sit until late in the evening or until the next afternoon. The Worst is having to deal with the Alley Cat office... CLUELESS!!!!

This is the worst trash company I have ever had to deal with. We pay our bill early and they continue to miss trash pick up dates. And when you call the company the girl that answers the phone doesn't have answers or cannot help.
DO NOT TELL ME MY TRASH HAS BEEN PICKED UP EARLIER IN THE MORNING WHEN I CAN STILL SEE IT IN MY DRIVEWAY!
TERRIBLE SERVICE! Even though my account is paid for through December, they have only picked my trash up two times. Each time I call them on trash pickup day, I am told that "They are right in your neighborhood. They will be there any minute!" Of course, they never show. I threatened to call the Health Department as I now have a "pet" raccoon visiting my yard every night trying to get to the trash. The "Customer Service" Rep told me to go ahead and hung up on me. I am now headed to the dump to dispose of my trash.
JUST FYI I have cancel my trash pickup with Alley Cats.. I have experienced very poor service with them. I stopped by in person to talk with them today about the service they are doing and failure for two weeks in a row to pick up our trash. They have been missing trash and yard waste pickup on Wednesday for several weeks now. I spoke to the owner and he just gave excuses over and over again about how his trucks are breaking down. I informed that I had paid for a full year of trash and yard waste pickup for 2011 and he said that he would refund me money in 6 weeks. I just when back to HSS. I guess we get what we paid for with Alley Cats has VERY POOR SERVICES.

my husband and i moved here 8 months ago and we signed up with alleycat , our neighbor recommended them. we have been so happy with our service, that's not why i'm writing I stopped by the office to pay my bill and i could hear a caller on the phone with the young lady answering the telephones, i was shocked at how loud this lady was speaking to her, the young lady began crying and ask the lady to hold and she left the office crying. I would not speak the words i heard this lady saying to no one, not even satin,I left there office and on my way home I ask god to help heal the young girls heart.I think it is a shame that your trash is so important that you would have to treat a young girl (probably 18 or 19 yrs old that way, shame onyou.
Opt for Another Trash Service – We switched to Alley Cat for our trash service about 7 months ago. We switched because their cost was so much lower. But, they have raised their cost and added a fuel surcharge in that time. The cost (unless you are over 60 years old and qualify for the senior rate) is the same as Harford Sanitation now. What has bothered me the most is that since we switched to Alley Cat, we've gotten a letter each quarter chastising us. In one form letter, we were informed that if we called to complain about our service then our trash service would be cancelled. One of the letters smelled badly of cigarette smoke, which I thought was unprofessional. The actual trash service has been uneven. They grew too fast so some days our trash and recycling hasn't been picked up until the end of the following day. The letters are what have bothered my neighbors and I the most. They don't say "Thank you for being our customers" or "We're glad to have your business". Instead, they chastise and stipulate exactly how we need to put our trash out and make a lot of demands. I would definitely recommend choosing another trash service.
Best Service in Harford CO. – Been with the big companies who don't care about their customers. Alley Cat is much more affordable and their service is second to none. Will not throw your cans or lids in the street and will quickly resolve any mistakes on their part no questions asked. You would be foolish to go with any other company. Trust me, ALLEY CAT IS #1!!!
