Owner or General Manager,

I just wanted to write you about the experience I had at your restaurant. I first must say that the restaurant has great decor and the food was excellent. Our waiter was also very good. My "bad" experience began when we first showed up and asked for a table of 6. We waited in the bar and watched as a table of 6 just to the right as you enter the bar area finished their meal. At this time our evening took a huge turn for the worse. The tables were divided reseated for 2 four tops. I could not understand what happened next ... a party of 4 who came after us was seated. We asked the hostess and what appeared to be a manager to explain what just happened. She (the manager) explained that the tables just used for 6 was for 8 people only when pushed together. I was stunned until I saw that clearly the 4 people being seated knew the manager. I know 6 people trying to sit together at your restaurant is extremely hard when you are busy and we were all prepared to wait. I am not sure that we were prepared to wait 1 hour and 30 minutes. I found it very unprofessional for your hostess and manager to "lie" to us about the tables being pushed together was for 8 only, when a party of 6 had just gotten up. Your food was great, the waiter was excellent, but the customer service we received during our wait was horrible. I was even more stunned after 3 pitchers of sangria during our wait, we were only brought some olives. Then we were brought egg plant as a comped appetizer and some sort of pudding for dessert. This stunned me personnaly because I do not like olives, egg plant, or nuts which were in the dessert. Your manager comped us $5.25 on our $175 tab. This ending sealed your restaurants fate. I will never return and hope that none of my friends will ever pass through your doors. I am not telling anyone how to run their business, but comping food that no one likes or taking 3% off our tab is rediculous. How about next time asking first what people may like or giving the options if you wish to give away food. I hope your staff noticed that the comped food was not eaten.

  • Pros: Food & decor was excellent
  • Cons: Staff was far below average.

Tapas Teatro is adjacent to the Charles Theatre and the combination of the two makes for a great date night! Tapas Teatro has a great small plates menu and is a fun place for groups of friends.

I've been here twice. The first time was not so bad. I went with a group of people and sat outside and it was really quite nice. So I was really excited to return with my boyfriend and have a nice date night out. Terrible idea!! The waitress was horrible. She never checked on us, other to refill our drinks to increase her tip. And when presented the bill at the end of our meal, no one even said thank you for coming. Very dissapointed. We go out to eat alot and are used to good service. We've gone to eat at the most expensive restaurants in the city, but that day we received better service at our lunch at IHOP.

  • Pros: outdoor dining, parking
  • Cons: service, food, price

Tapas Teatro is a wonderfuf cafe with a menu of Spanish tapas, which are little dishes of things to nibble on. You can order a few to start, then another one or two if you feel like it, then maybe a dessert or two. It's very informala nd relaxed. Everything we have had there was delicious and interesting. The service is a bit slow at times but we were also there during very busy periods. You can also order takeout and eat it in the Charles Theater lounge before or after your movie, which is fun.

I've been to several tapas restaurants, and this one is by far the worst one I've experienced. The food was decent and the presentation was very nice, but neither the taste nor the portions justified the expensive prices for some of the dishes. The restaurant itself is quite noisy with tables pushed incredibly close together and the smell of popcorn waffed over from the adjacent Charles Theater. Plus, the tables themselves are incredibly small and rickity, making dinner an uncomfortable experience for taller individuals. The service was decent, but seemed hurried and the staff generally unknowledgable about the cuisine. This might be a fun place for appetizers and drinks, but definitely not a good place for a nicer meal or a romantic occassion.

Easy to find, plenty of street and paid lot parking available. We were seated promptly and staff was friendly and attentive - food was mistakenly put on our table that we didnt order, and one item that we had ordered was sold out and we werent notified until about 20 minutes after we ordered it. The food was very tasty and they did have a good selection for all tastes. The tables were too tiny to fit the drinks and plates on, they were mear inches from each other, you were practically touching the stranger next to you not to mention it was loud and intrusive - not exactly a romantic date setting. There was not even room for the most petite woman to get to and from her seat without moving the tables. I found it to be a bit too expensive for the over all experience.

  • Pros: good food, friendly staff, ample parking
  • Cons: tables too small , tables too close , price

The Scene
This charming little restaurant in the historic Charles Theater is always bustling with activity. Hip wait staff rush colorful plates from the open kitchen to candlelit tables; friendly bartenders pour countless pitchers of the restaurant's signature sangria--and diners waiting for highly coveted tables crowd the trendy bar and spill into the theater's lobby. Though there's often a wait, it's well worth it. From the massive cathedral-style windows down to the bowls of olives on the tables, Tapas Teatro is the real deal for sophisticated Spanish dining.

The Food

The restaurant's motto "Small plates. Big pleasure" is only half true; the affordable selections of hot and cold tapas are in fact surprisingly large. Standouts include the sauteed spinach served with apples, raisins and pine nuts in a warm maple glaze and the Teatro Tenderloin marinated in a spicy red wine vinegar sauce. The plentiful paella--tossed with a generous helping of seafood and sausage--will satisfy even the biggest appetites.

what a great place to experience international Tapas cuisine...we travel to Europe each year and this place brings back all the great memories of the wonderful small cafe's, bistro's and Tapas bars that only Europe had to offer, until now!

  • Pros: Fantastic food, $2.00 parking, Open late
