I chose Carnitas as my entree. For a 15$ entree I was expecting pork that wasn't the fatty rind that would be discarded from a better cut of meat. This was the reason that the carnitas did not come with shredded meat as they normally do- you cannot shred fat. As far as the salsa that was served it was nothing more than canned crushed tomatoes that had been warmed and a sprig of cilantro added. White rice with frozen peas and corn is not mexican rice. Nothing was remotely spicy. There were too many things wrong with this place to even consider giving it another shot. Not authentic at all- and even so the food wasn't even good in an inauthentic way. We attempted to eat our meals and decided it would just be better to pay the check and leave.

Pros: cute, kitchy decor; waitstaff is friendly, no wait

Cons: food is inedible

Looking for something more than just great fajitas and burritos? Zapata's has a great menu with traditional mexican choices, along with fantastic versions of the texmex items. I've had almost everything on their menu and loved it all. My favorites are their Tamles and their Chicken Mole. If you really like interesting Mexican food, this is the place to go. The lunch menu has many unusual and delicious choices also. They have a lively bar in back (but not visible from the dinning area) also. I've also never had to wait for a seat and they have friendly and prompt service.

Pros: exciting menu options, never crowded, great food
