Awesome Experience! Best Salon in Baltimore!
by saradunn at Citysearch
Sprout is awesome! I've always had a really hard time booking appointments elsewhere. Sprout, however, was super easy to get booked and they didn't make me wait any longer than I needed to. The atmosphere is super chic and trendy. I had Leah cut my hair. Not only is she just a really great person in general, she did a fantastic job with my highlights and my haircut (not to mention the scalp massage was divine).
I tried someone and something different and I was rewarded with a great experience. I wasn't sure how the organic highlights would turn out, but they're even more fantastic than what I usually get. My hair looks very natural, healthy and shiny (all my friends were raving as soon as I walked into the door)! If you're thinking about changing stylists or if you're new to the area like me, you should definitely go to Sprout and ask for Leah.
- Pros: Lots of off Street Parking, Talented Stylists, Atmosphere, Organic Products
- Cons: It is a bit expensive--cut and highlight was $150 (w/o tip) for me. However, this is pretty normal elsewhere so I can't complain too much.
Cry No More

So I orginally had been going to Tenpachi and loved all my haircuts/colors, but unfortunatly my favorite lady left and had to go to a new girl. I walked out looking like fraggle, burned my scalp multiple times, blowdrying straightening and doing everything i could to tame my frizzy short bangs, and wild spiky ends. I have a lot of wavy hair with cow licks and this women cut them wrong every way, my bangs perpetually looked like "There's Something About Mary" I suffered headaches for months as hair spray and head bands held down my fraggle-do/troll doll cut.
After four months and with graduation from college around the corner i called Naomi Greene at Sprout, expressly because she was voted best in Baltimore 2008, by City Paper. WELL SHE IS THE BEST. I walked in a scared timid lamb, and walked out and awesome lion. I loved the HON feel of the salon, its abscense of salon-atude. The shampoo was GREAT and smelled wonderful.
I loved every moment of my haircut and started singing with a huge grin on my face as my new hair emerged, tamed, beautiful and ready for action. GRADUATION HERE I COME!!! She did exactly was i imagined, and i loved my haircut the moment i stood up from the chair. GO here, you will love it!!!
- Pros: Naomi Greene, Awesome shampoo girl, no weird smells
- Cons: NADA (you need to save money-the $70 with tip is worth it)
great haircut
by lindja at Citysearch
The energy at Sprouts is cool and hip without the attitude. The one time I wasn't thrilled with my haircut, Rachel suggested I "be with the haircut a few days before changing it" Great advice. The haircut worked after all and grew out well. This past visit was with Naomi, a very talented stylist who gave me an excellent cut, exactly what I was looking for. A good haircut is not cheap and you get what you pay for. At Sprout you get a good haircut.
- Pros: exactly what I asked for
- Cons: What are the drawbacks?
Finally!
by dub79 at Citysearch
I finally found an amazing haircut that not only looked great leaving the salon, but still looks equally great when i do it myself. As a guy every other cut I have received looked good when i walked out the door, but could not be replicated later by myself. Leah listened to what i wanted and did in a way that worked for me. You get what you pay for!!!
I'll be telling all my friends to go see her!!
- Pros: Listened to what i wanted and made it work for me!
- Cons: Not many styling products for men.
Sprout is Overpriced
by datgrl at Citysearch
I went to the salon on the recommendation of a friend. I used her stylist. She gets charged $35 for her cut. I have very, very short hair. I was in the chair for 10 minutes after the shampoo and I got charged $60! I was in and out of the salon in 30 minutes, including the pre-cut discussion and the post-cut payment. It was like I got charged extra to breathe the air inside the trendy and pretentious salon. The salon web site lists men's & women's cuts $35-70. I will not be going back to Sprout.
- Pros: 'In the neighborhood'
- Cons: Very over priced
The review from Last person must be from a salon down the street

How odd the hair color smelled like coconuts.. How stinky can coconuts be ? I received a beautiful cut.. My haircolor service was exactly what I communicated.. Leah is who I go to..Prices are comparable to an upscale salon.. The color lasts forever.. My hair is left in good condition ..and Hamden is safe and interesting
Great Haircuts

Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but after spending years looking for someone to trust with my hair, CLIFF IS MY HERO! I am extremely picky about my hair and have been scalped by the best. Cliff has been cutting my hair for about a year and it is always great! No more bad hair days and I can sit in his chair and relax knowing that I'm being cut by someone who really knows what he is doing.
LEAH TAYLOR IS MY HAIR GODDESS
by NUNYA76 at Citysearch
Taylor has been pruning my locks for over 5 years now and let me tell you any time i've strayed ive kicked myself. And every time she has accepted me back with a smile. That girl has style and it radiates to her designs. On top of that she is well-rounded, i've seen her go from up-dos to punnnnnnnk rock. I highly recommend her to anyone a little lost and in need of a new style. Just not too many people, I don't want to elbow my way in for a cut and color. My lastest cut is my favorite- thanks LEAH!!!
Sprout Rocks!
by foxe at Citysearch
I had a haircut phobia for years, but Cliff cured it. He's awesome! On my first visit, he took extra time to consult with me (and to reassure me) and gave me the best cut I've ever had. Now I see him regularly for a cut and color, and I look forward to going in. Sprout itself is a beautifully designed space with attention to all sorts of cool detail. The co-owner, Alan, is a total sweetheart, and his organic products rock. I especially like the texture spray. I can't stop raving about Sprout!
- Pros: Cliff, Alan, the space itself. Everyone who works there is lovely.
- Cons: None
Rip off for crappy work
by BaltoM at Citysearch
Went to Sprout, had my hair conditioned twice instead of shampooed. My hair looked nasty with the excessive conditioning product and the hair stylist ignored it, tried to spritz some water on it but it looked like they smothered Crisco on my hair.
The haircut cost $50+
It was a HUGE waste of money and time to go there. Total rip off and terrible customer service that problem with shampoo was ignored.
What a horrible place!

Organic?? These are a bunch of fakes, who say that they are for the earth and not harming yourself with chemicals, when the owner has more tatoo's than bare skin. Does she think shoving dye under your skin rank as organic? My hair stinks...literally, and they didn't listen to a word I said of what I wanted. Save yourself a lot of money and go to a REAL hair salon. Tabatha would laugh you out of business.....I am more organic than you will ever profess to be. A total sham.
- Pros: None
- Cons: A total ripoff.
