Food just OK better values elsewhere

by BradBalt

I don't judge any establishment by just one or two visits but always give any dining venue the benefit of the doubt. My multiple visits at the Oregon Grille were the similar. Overpriced for the quality, I've had better dining experiences at not so notable establishments. Meat dishes were cold and tough not using the best cuts, vegetables were not seasoned to the best of the chefs ability. Usual rrun of the mill selection with poor delivery.

  • Pros: Close to where I live
  • Cons: really need to get decent food on the table

Not What It Used To Be

by MDR

We took our family for my special birthday. We had a wonderful time being with our children, but it stopped there.

First, when we went in to tell the matre de we were here and were ready to be seated outside, he went first and practically closed the door in my face, instead of holding it for all.

Second, the minute we sat down, the waiter handed my husband the wine list and proceeded to immediatley tell us about the special. We would have rather, had our drinks, had a little conversation then delve into what we were eating.

Third, I had the grouper which was dry as a bone and looked unappetizing. I didn't send it back which i should have, but don't really like doing it, my mistake.

My daughter had the Shrimp something with Cognac sauce, and it reeked of the cognac that she ate one shrimp and left the rest.

Oh also before we ordered, after telling us the specials as soon as we sat down, he came back, they were out of the salad special. Meanwhile it was 7:30pm, and empty outside. Then a second time, came back and they were out of the prime rib. We must of had shocked faces, because he preceded to tell us, they only order 12 servings, and they had 200 reservations, which we found hard to believe.

  • Pros: Pretty outdoor dining
  • Cons: Food, Service

Mediocre Food for the Price

by Bisquick

We've been to the Oregon Grille twice now in the past year - both times were disappointing. It's a lovely setting but the food is mediocre. The prices are similar (expensive) to Charleston's and Charleston's has much much much better food. The staff are pleasant but sometimes a wee bit pretentious for what they're offering. The baked potato had a metallic taste and I had to cut away half the ribeye steak because it was tough and fatty (unlike marbled which I expected). This place needs a new chef to warrant the prices they charge. My husband's beef tenderloin was perfect........that's all he needs to be happy.

  • Pros: Ambience
  • Cons: Mediocre food

Great value

by kallen17

I loved the quiet and cozy but elegant feel of the place. It's one of those okay on the outside but jewel on the inside restaurants. I had a salmon dish and it was delightful; everyone enjoyed their food. A little pricey, but totally worth it.

The extensive, expensive wine list complements everything from the caviar to the prime rib.

The Scene
Even with herbs growing out front and horse bridles and jockey prints decorating the walls, there's nothing rustic or casual about this fine-dining destination, located in a part of Baltimore County known for horse ownership. Well-dressed patrons dine while enjoying golden-oldies piano playing in the elegant, romantic dining room.

The Food
Meat, seafood and salads are the staples in this kitchen. Flavorful steaks, lamb and veal are all cooked to order. Among the restaurant's signature seafood and salad entrees, lemon butter and chives enhance the seafaring sweetness of grilled oysters, and tart apples and hearts of palm spruce up mixed greens. Wines are sold by the glass or the bottle. The selection is enormous and ranges in price from $28 to $320, with even fancier wines available upon request.

This has been my best restaurant experience ever. It's a little expensive, but money was made to spend. This is one of the best restaurants in Maryland, period! Men, remember to wear a sportsjacket for dinner (required)
