Overpriced and Bad Service
by jeremy134 at Citysearch
I took my girlfriend to this place expecting some reasonably priced Mexican food considering the small size and mediocre environment. Immediately we noticed the lunch menu was mostly in the double digits and the plates were oversized. This wouldn't be so bad if not for the "Split Dishes Cost $2 EXTRA" note at the bottom of the menu. I have never in my life been charged an extra $2 because I didn't want to eat a whole dish by myself.
After ordering our food our we waited a considerable amount of time. The waitress never checked up on drinks, even when she stopped at our table when my girlfriend flagged her down for more sauce. The food was rather greasy and overpriced. When we were ready to go, there was no waitress to be found. My gilfriend had to approach the counter to ask for carryout boxes and was essentially ignored. I came back and got the boxes, then had to make two more trips to ask for our check. Overall, I'd say this place is overpriced, poor service, too small, and certainly worth avoiding if you don't want to waste your time or money.
- Pros: The 2 small tables outside looked decent
- Cons: Price, Service, Food
The Salsa Grill

I am new to the Baltimore area and The Salsa Grill is in the area. I must also say that the citizens of Baltimore don't expect much from a restaurant because this one came recommended by a co-worker and I can't understand why. The prices are unwarranted. I ordered an 8.00 Jalapeno Sausage sub which ended up being two hot dogs on an oversized bun.. I asked for peppers and onion. I was charged 50 cent for two strips of green pepper even though I was told that I could have anything on it. It always amazes me how the chef thinks he can throw some poorly cut vegetables on a dish and think this is what a customer wants to be served. Do not fool yourself about the Paella either. It is not good. It is a shameful example of how food shouldn't be prepared. The owner is totally deluded if he thinks his meals are first rate. The only thing first rate here are the prices. The service is laughable. The attitudes of the workers that speak English are hostile and rude. I just added The Salsa Grill on my list of places I will never return to.
Not up to standards

The small restaurant's atmosphere was pleasant at first; however the customer service/pricing was not up to my standards. My waitress didn't check up on our table, the drinks werent refilled, food taste bad and she not friendly. They even charge $2.00 for splitting a large entree! Overall, I would not recommend this place to anyone! :(

The carne asada melts in your mouth and where can you go for a strip loin cooked to perfection for less than $20. I also highly recommend the caribbean paella and the empanadas and polo con arroz and .... . The restaurant is not licensed but you can bring your own wine or beer if you like. The owner can often be found there. It's wonderful, we eat there fairly regularly. If you are taking a large group I would recommend making reservations.
- Pros: great food, great prices
- Cons: byob
