good work but TOO expensive

did a good job on the car. but estimate was way overboard. i trusted them on their previous laurels (previously best in baltimore) but ultimately paid heavy for it.

Biggest Rip Off In Town -

One month ago I had starter issues with the car - and I was told there were cut wires and it took four days and $650 to get it "fixed." Two weeks ago it began to act up. I took it back and was told it would be many days before they could even look at it and that I should just ignore it.
Tonight, alone, in a dark parking lot my car was absolutely dead. Nothing worked - no lights, and the engine didn't even consider turning over. So, thanks for telling me to ignore it and THANKS for taking $650 to NOT fix what you said was a starter problem. I hope he will be honorable but honestly, after the way I was treated the first time and then the second time, I have serious doubts. Obviously if he expects me to pay more money I will take it elsewhere. I am so disappointed because this place got good reviews but I think this is the biggest car rip-off I have experience in 40 some years of life.
- Pros: I paid $650 for a new starter and some broken wires
- Cons: three weeks later, alone in a dark parking lot, dead car

Best mechanic

I've been going to D&J Auto with all my cars since 1980. Don and crew, including office staff, are the best around. Easy to work with, explains what is wrong, and doesn't fix stuff that isn't broken. I've never been "taken for a ride" by this auto shop. Work is guaranteed and I've never found them to be overpriced. Even willing to offer advice if asked as to what should be next looked at, fixed, replaced, repaired or left alone. Have never had one of their repairs go wrong. Have recommended them to family and friends/neighbors, and all have been satisfied with car and customer service. D&J is THE place to go for auto service that gets is done right the first time, for a reasonable price.

The only place I'll take my car

Good, trustworthy shop. Its often busy and not the cheapest place to get your car fixed, but they do excellent work. Its worth the few extra dollars to get your car fixed the first time, on time.
