Cheap but... by J L. at InsiderPages

A $10 haircut is hard to come by these days, and its nice to have a place close by to go when you need a trim. However, in terms of quality I'd just say that they are mediocre... I guess you can't really mess up women's haircuts that much unless you are going for a really special look, but guys haircuts!! All my guy friends who go there to get their hair come out looking the same.
Great cut, I love the color, Reasonably priced, Fantastic customer service

All around wonderful! Theresa Rocks! I usually hate getting my hair colored because it takes so long. But Theresa was so great the time just flew by. I will definitely be back.
- Pros: Staff, Quality cuts and color, Good prices
- Cons: They could use a larger space but the staff makes up for it with good customer service

after moving to baltimore in early 06, I had been to i don't know how many places to get anything from a simple trim, to my roots touched up. and everywhere I went the person either didn't understand, or they just did what ever they wanted to do anyway. anyways a friend told me about tenpachi, so I went to the one on eastern avenue. the girls were really nice, and the atmosphere was nice and relaxed. I got my highlights done, my hair trimmed, and styled for under $100! I'm so excited to finally find a place here that does a good job without charging way too much. so if your'e looking for a new stylist, go to my girl her name is shayna (sp?) she did exactly what I asked her to, and had some good suggestions.
- Pros: great staff, knowledgable stylists
- Cons: parking
Not bad for the price

I've been a regular there for about 2 years (Missy cuts my hair). It's cheap and quick. They give you a free shampoo beforehand. I've always thought the service was great and she does a nice job on my hair. I think they probably do a better job with guys' hair than with girls', but that could be because guys are easier to please.
- Pros: Cheap, quick, friendly service
- Cons: no parking, too quick
Get out your scissors

My boyfriend was a regular customer at Tenpachi & I decided to try it myself. Everytime he would come home, I'd have to trim what they missed while he was there. They didn't do a very good job on my hair either. My hair is straight as an arrow and long, and there were still hairs they missed. I don't recommend going there unless you feel like trimming it up again when you go home. We also experienced the whole "if you're not here, reschedule" thing. Even if you're less than 5 minutes late, they make you schedule a whole new appointment.
- Pros: cheap price, chill atmosphere
- Cons: sub-par haircut (and that's what you're going there for!)
ok haircut, awful service
by upandit at Citysearch
The first time I went there, I was late by about 7 mins, so I was told that I would have to reschedule even though the next appointment hadn't yet shown up. I rescheduled it, and realized what a bad mistake that was. After the haircut, I asked for a hair-dry; and the stylist grudgingly agreed to do it, even when I was perfectly fine with the extra $10 that she charged for it. She was so rough with the drying, that at one point, I thought she was going to tear my hair from its follicles. She did not bother to put the apron on me again, and as a result every inch of my body was covered with small hairs. When I complained about it, she asked me to use the hair-dryer myself to remove it.
Will never go there again. Very, very unprofessional.
- Pros: Okay for cheap haircuts - insults are free too!
- Cons: Very, very unprofessional
Tenpachi gets a perfect 10

I've made Tenpachi my personal 'salon of record' after getting some awesome haircuts from Nikki D, and having some great conversations as well. Great price, great haircut, great atmosphere. I don't know why other people on here are complaining about this salon. I personally have had nothing but great experiences here. Ask for Nikki D, for a truly rated TENpachi experience.
Cheap & Quick Cut
by professorbootyxxx at Citysearch
Can't get any cheaper than this place, and still feel clean afterwards. I just needed a straight across, no frills haircut, and they provided just that. I was done in less than 15 minutes. Sure you style your own hair, but for $11 what are you really expecting?
- Pros: Cheap, Fast
- Cons: small wait
Bad highlights
by jeannettefsu at Citysearch
I had read that tenpachi in Fells Point was rated as the best place to get a hair cut in City Paper, so I took a chance. I got my brows done and my hair cut and highlighted. The cut and brows were ok, not great, but the highlights are terrible. I am going back to have them try to fix it. It was supposed to be sunkissed but it is a large platinum streak in the front of my head. Awful. I am so embarrassed. Not recommended.
- Pros: inexpensive, timely, quick
- Cons: bad job, not what i asked for
Never again
by agohn at Citysearch
I've been to Tenpachi 5 times, and each time I promised myself it would be my last. I go because they're so close, but every time I come out looking like a child attacked me with clippers. My hair always looks uneven and I always have to go home and trim long strands of hair that they missed. They don't even show you the back with the mirror. After 10 minutes, "All done. Next!"
- Pros: Nice staff
- Cons: No parking, Lousy haircuts, Inattentive
