Nice

by Tom Sheppard11 at Citysearch

Matthews pizza is one of a kind and there in nothing else like it in the city (state) and we are lucky to have them in our own backyard. The Crab Pie is superb, tons of crab meat! Everyone has to try their original tomato pie with no cheese, you can really enjoy the flavor of their unique crust that way. The anti-pasta salad is supreme with wonderful meats and fresh veggies.. The same fresh meats and veggies can be found on the best cold cut sub in town. They carry the Stewart old fashioned sodas which is a great way to wash down some of the best food in town.

I cant belive the bad reviews

by barkeep77 at Citysearch

this is the best pizza in baltimore and those who wrote bad reviews, I dont believe you. either you have no idea what good is, or you have been eating garbage for so long when you finally eat something wonderfull your body rejects it. stick to catus willies where you can have your favorite steak and eat it with a spork.

  • Pros: the choices!
  • Cons: the neighborhood

Better hurry up, so to get a table at the best pizza place anywhere!

by michkay at Citysearch

IF you are a pizza conasuour, and you have not tried Matthews then you are lacking in your understanding of what a perfect pizza is and taste like. Words alone cannot describe the Taste of this delite. A perfectly balanced sauce (with real fresh tomato chucks) on a crust that even thou it is thick does not fill you up when you reallize that you just ate a large all by yourself and have room to seek a piece off your wifes plate, and the cheese is fresh and not put on just cover the pie, but just enough to make it perfect .( it has those brown well done spots that taste like heaven) Accompanying the pizza with a couple of your favorite Stewarts sodas adds to the meal to make it more then "Hey "hon", you feelin' like pizza tonite"? and she replies" yea, but lets go up to the Ave and get a " Large Matthews Both Cheese"! To which my reply is "Okay, but what are you goin' to eat!!!"

Trust Me you will not regret it one bit!

  • Pros: Get goin', what are waitin' for. simply put the best!
  • Cons: none

OMG it was pretty much unedible

by cletusdelroy at Citysearch

I went to Matthew's one time because of all the rave reviews. We got a large carryout pizza. The first thing I noticed is that the "large" pizza would possibly satisfy one person, maybe two if you weren't very hungry. Okay, maybe if it was so wonderful as people have raved, maybe it would be worth it. Well, we got it home and the crust was so underdone as to almost be uncooked. The dough was so undercooked that the pizza was entirably inedibale. Given all the rave reviews, perhaps it was just a very unfortunate fluke. However, given the very small pizza you get for your money, you can be assured that we will never try their "wonderful" pizzas ever again. Um, do they offer refunds?!?

  • Pros: None that I can think of`
  • Cons: Uncooked pizza dough and way overpriced

Simply the best! Matthew's Pizza is an addiction!

by lupe_pantoja at Citysearch

Although the restaurant is small, the atmosphere and food are unbelievable. My personal favorite is the large popular (pizza) with mushrooms. The spaghetti with meatballs is fantastic and the house red wine is great. I am a regular visitor even though I live two hours away. I have traveled to many countries around the world and this restaurant is my number one all time favorite. When you visit for the first time, just say "Lupe" sent you. You will not be disappointed. I would definitely rate Matthew's Pizza five stars!

  • Pros: The food, staff, service and atmosphere.
  • Cons: Small restaurant, parking.

Home style pizza

by garyhoy at Citysearch

A visit to Matthew's is somehow more than the sum of its parts. The Pizza is marvelous.

The service is friendly and the location is great. The only improvment I could suggest

would be fresh mushrooms on the pizza instead of canned.

The best pizza

by samdutton at Citysearch

Chicago, New York, Philadelphis take notice. Matthews serves the best pizza anywhere. This has been a tradition for many years. They do not do carry out. The traditional is my favorite.

  • Pros: Original, inexpensive, locals know best
  • Cons: parking, small
