My fiancé and I live close to Captain Larry's and there are other places to go but we go there because IT'S GOOD and not too expensive. We eat dinner at Captain Larry's at least once per week, sometimes more. Mara has started adding some very delicious specials to an already yummy base menu. Regular favorites are the chicken sandwich, the awesome crab cakes, the Caesar salad, and the steamed shrimp. Some of our favorite recent specials have been the BLT with heirloom tomatoes and the gazpacho with fresh avocado. In addition to the food being great everyone is very friendly, the bar has a good home-town feeling and they have good drinks! I hear that they just started having "Family Night" on Tuesdays with no smoking. It's usually not overly smoky when we eat there, but it will be wonderful to have a night that's guaranteed to be smoke free.
Pros: food, drinks, service
Cons: it "*is* a bar, so don't go expecting a restaurant-type experience

This is a great Bal-more bar that my daddy used to hang out at. Now under new ownership, it's better than ever! The interesting decor includes a hand-painted mural of the city -- a very unique focal point! Cash is king here (no plastic accepted) so bring your own or borrow some from the onsite ATM machine. You can order anything on the menu because it's all delicious. Pay attention to weekly specials for even more savings off the already low prices. Oh, and say hi to Ivars, the bartender, for me. He's the best and I just know yer gonna love him.
Pros: local joint, great food, great people
Cons: parking, cash only

A well-mixed crowd, great staff and an unpretentious, social vibe will have me coming back. Reasonable prices and food way beyond your typical bar fare will make it worth your while too. And, it doesnt hurt that the knowledgeable bartender (Ivars) is as tasty as his cocktails.
Pros: ambiance, buy backs, the hot redhead who’s
Cons: the bartender is marr

When friends come into town, we inevitably take them to Captain Larry's. It's friendly, cozy and the crab cakes are the best we've had (not to mention that they are affordable!). Always reliable and relaxing and locally owned by great people!
