Drowning in Beers
by TomSmith at Citysearch
The beer selection was awsome. I never felt more at home than at Max's. Staff was attentive to the max! Bob the daytime bartender runs up and down the bar like no one I've ever seen and has the best personality of any bartender I've met. Just bar food but at Max'sthats all you need. The Wings are huge not those pigeon wings you get at some places. Dom't forget to chckout the Mobtown lounge upstairs...cool
- Pros: Beer, Beer, Beer
- Cons: they won't rent me a
Rude Staff treat customers like garbage
by labrynthfire at Citysearch
At 2 pm the bouncer was sitting, eating, so i made a joke about having it easy. His reply consisted of telling me how great cleaning up tampons and toilets is. How's that for a first impression.. We left and now I can see why Fell's Point is half boarded up and out of business. I will not be back and do not recommend any female even step foot in this establishment.
If Looking For Respect, Don't Choose Max's On Broadway
by Ruckster at Citysearch
I am amazed that in these economic times, a place relying on the servicing and comfort of their customers is still in business!
Starting around 1:30 Opening Day, we had about 10 friends enjoying an afternoon of beers and food, while watching the O's win their 4th straight game.
During that time, the folks allowed for patrons to congregate outside of the front door with our beers while smoking an occasional cigarette. Later in the day that changed, and we were asked not to take our beer outside any longer; to which we all agreed without any problem.
Some time later, we were out taking a smoke without our beers, only to return to our table of two freshly poured pints of beer and 3 fresh bottles, being cleared and disposed of.
I kindly asked the bus person, and he denied throwing our fresh pints of beer away. With that, another of our group kindly asked the bartender, who we had very much taken care of the whole day, if they would replace the beers. He vehemently denied us, and when I asked why they would be so reluctant to accommodate a crowd who had spent considerable money there throughout the day, he replied that we can feel free to leave.
The blatant disregard for respecting a customer was enough that I will never return to that bar, and I would encourage others to consider whether they would wanted to be treated like this.
I can assure you that our crowd was never unruly to where we became an undesirable client.
I guess Max's is doing so well, that they can afford to chase away customers if the bar tender's ego is offended.
I hope that they have enough regulars to stay afloat. There are plenty of other options in Fells Point and surrounding area, and I would encourage you to consider them.
Horrible service

The female bartender (long red hair, bangs, working at the side bar on Saturday 3/13) shorted us on change at least two or three times. We would have left it as tip anyway, but it rubbed us the wrong way. The bouncer threw us out of the side room at 12:45 (loudly and rudely, along the lines of 'the bar closes whenever the f@#$ I say it closes), in the middle of a darts game, in spite of the multiple signs saying the room closed at 1:00. To cap off the evening, the female bartender handed us a little card and asked us to vote for Max's in some contest. We were all relatively sober, quiet, and pleasant, so didn't think we deserved this kind of treatment.
- Pros: Lots of beers
- Cons: Not a fun place to drink

Hipsters and preppies flock to the two-story bar for the extensive beer selection and pool tables.

Great beer selection
by onejolly at Citysearch
This bar had a great beer selection - one of the best I've seen at a bar in general. The atmosphere is strange though - so many TV's playing different sports channels, and it is a very loud bar, filled to the brim with an eclectic mix of college frat boys, and 40-something bar goers. If I'm in Fell's Point, this is the first place I go.
- Pros: great beer selection
- Cons: too loud
Max's A fave for years
by dominantaurora at Citysearch
Max's has been a fave of mine for years. Once you get past just how LOUD this place can get, the service is excellent, the food adequate for bar food, and the beer list is HUGE! And they mix a mean martini too!
- Pros: Lots of beer, Good Prices, Good Service
- Cons: , Crowded
MAX'S MEANS BEER!!!!!
by miller2244 at Citysearch
Max's is by far the best beer bar in Baltimore. Great staff with great recommendations on what to drink. Always rotating the best brews in the world and Maryland on tap. Great place to watch a game. Food is basic but good. As Homer Simpson would say, "Beeeeer".
Fun for Everyone
