My family and i recently dined at your restaurant and the atmosphere was great. area wasn't the greatest but took a taxi. i wanted to submit this. we had the crabs ,small, i would have liked the larger size but im sure its first come first serve. Our server was ERIC and he is most definitely a PROFESSIONAL. He didnt miss a thing and provided us with the best service that we had encountered in the restaurants we visited. we will be returning in the future. thank you so much for a wonderful and memorable experience.

Pros: food was excellent

Cons: not enough of the big guys

The service was HORRIBLE....it's pretty bad when we heard the waitress serving the table next to us apologizing to the customers for bad service. It wasn't busy either, 330 in the afternoon and maybe there were 4 tables in the entire place! The food was awful as well, my husbands crabs were cold and it took forever to get drinks to the table. The neighborhood is VERY sketchy and we were very nervous walking to it. Reccomendation to anyone thinking about this place other than don't go - TAKE A CAB!

Pros: Large Dining Area

Cons: Service, Food, Value, Neighborhood

Let me start with the bad - attitude. I would have given it 5 stars if not for this. Maybe it was us (I had a Yankee hat on!) but we were treated coldly by the older hostess and the younger waitress. No smiles, short answers, no banter. We are jovial guys - come on! We would have inflated the bill if we were made to feel more welcome. Not for the good - I would recommend this place for what we ate: 1/2 dozen large steamed blue claws. We loved them and the rub is trememdous. Nice kick - plenty of cold beers will be needed. Broiled Seafood platter. The crab cake was awesome and the rest was done perfectly. Fresh green beans, too! I hope they read these reviews and adjust accordingly. Ambiance could also be kicked up a bit. Kind of boring and drab.

Pros: Crabs and Seafood

Cons: Staff attitude

What a disappointment! My mother-in-law requested a crab dinner for her birthday. Forgoing my normal fish house (Nick's), I chose Obrycki's because it always shows up at the top of reviews for crab in the city. You have to wonder who is scoring these (hospital patients on their first meal out of the hospital??) The setting is depressing and slightly dingy, the service is on par with fast food joints, and the food is so bland as to cause one to wonder if the chef has yet to discover tastebuds!! I ordered the deviled crab cake- there was no flavor- not even crab! It was served with Utz potato chips and a dill pickle spear for $11. Honestly, Red Lobster is superior to this. The waiter was just a step above dower. He did manage to bring the correct dishes and attend to drinks- but he acted like he wanted to die instead. Not surprising! If I had to work in such a dismal atmosphere and in such poor lighting, I'd be hard pressed to smile. With so many good, an occassionaly very good, places to get fish and crab, I wonder how this place stays in business. Bottom line- go somewhere else. A trip through the Long John Silver's drive-thru would provide better service, ambience, and food!

Pros: nothing, nada, zilch, zip

Cons: food, service, ambience, value, location, parking

The hostess and waitresses need a course in manners! Our party arrived at the restaurant early in the day, right when it open. Granted we did not make a reserveration but being that it was just opening up for business, we did not think it would be a problem. When we told the hostess we had a party of about 13, her rude reply was "what? don't you know how to make reservations?" Excuse me, but there is no one waiting and there is no line!!! When we do get seated, the waitress was rude. She spills water on one of the ladies in our party and says "it's just water, a majority of it spilled on me" Was she kidding?? The best part is that the gratuity is included already because if they had to work for their tips, they would definitely not have gotten any!!!

Pros: Food was average

Cons: EVERYTHING ELSE

2 Star Rating: Below Average

Obrycki's has made a name for itself as a popular Baltimore location to get steamed crabs. But this Baltimore native says there are much better places. After a Thursday night visit to the establishment, I was highly disappointed by the crabs brought to our table. We ordered 2 dozen larges, but ended up with crabs that looked anything but. They weren't full (easy to tell just by picking them up and gauging the weight) and were not much larget than the Maryland legal size of 5''. I've caught bigger crabs myself in the tributaries of the Chesapeake Bay. If you want to experience what the Maryland steamed crab is all about, I would suggest finding a place that has a variety of prices, not just small, medium or large, but crabs described as $25's $42's, $48's, $54's, etc, b/c they are priced based on weight and size, which will give you a better crab for your money. Check out Mr. Bill's Terrace Inn in Essex as an example. That's where I'm going back to for my next crab feast.

Pros: $5.00 off parking across the street

Cons: overpriced steamed crabs

The crabs were DELICIOUS! You can't come to Obrycki's and not order the hard shell crabs. The seasoning was tasty and had a kick from the pepper. Reservations are highly recommended or else the wait is about 30-60 minutes. There is parking across the street and taxis waiting in the front to take you to your next destination. The prices are $40 a dozen, which can easily feed 4 or more people.

This old-school Baltimore favorite still delivers lip-smacking, finger-lickin'-good steamed crabs.  See the full editorial review.
