Terribly Disappointed. Much of what we discovered to be drawbacks about living at Thames Point Apartments were know issues. We feel that, although we inquired about these specific points before signing a lease, we were assured that they were no longer a problem. We feel we were mislead.

We've had issues with excessive partying and noise (including vomiting over the railing outside our apartment) as late as 3:00 am, ventilation problems which pumped stale cigarette smoke into our apartment from an adjacent unit (we are not smokers), and a serious fire hazard ... we actually put out a smoldering fire in a wall-mounted ash tray late one evening. Upon mentioning this to the night watchman, he said, "I've seen that happen a few times." Upon reporting this to the management, we got no response at all ... and no change to the ash trays to reduce the potential for fire. I'll be posting a video on YouTube. Consider renting elsewhere.

-- Noise

When we first visited Thames Point Apartments, we made it very clear that peace and quiet were very important , and that we were only interested in moving in if we could have a unit with no one above us, and that the management would swiftly handle any noise issues which might arise. We were given assurances that noise would not be a problem. This been the case.

Foot traffic in the hallway which runs the length of our apartment is very loud. After speaking to other residents, we understand that this is a known issue. Had we been made aware of this problem, we would not have signed a lease.

We have been awakened, regularly, by courtyard noise as late as 3:00 am, or by partiers banging on our wall and vomiting over the railing. We have notified the Thames Point management office of these issues on several occasions. As of this writing, it has been nearly seven months.

--Bad Air

We have found cigarette smoke to be a real problem. Since shortly after moving in, I've had persistent allergy symptoms, including sneezing, a persistent cough, itchy eyes, and skin irritation for months. I've discovered that these symptoms seem to subside any time I'm away from the apartment for more than a few hours at a time. I can only attribute this to the cigarette smoke ... and other contaminants, (we regularly encounter horrible cooking and perfume-like smells) ... from adjacent apartments, the hallway, or other unknown sources. The air is stale and stagnant unless the windows are open ... but ... since smoking is permitted on the premises, we often have cigarette smoke entering through our open windows, notably, the smoke from the unit below us.

We are also exposed to cigarette smoke from the areas immediately outside our windows, where there is a courtyard landing and elevator. Smoking is common in this area ... people who don't smoke inside their own apartments smoke here so we get to "enjoy" it.

Management attempted to address the problem by blocking the exhaust vents from our apartment ... specifically, the vent above the stove. This has resulted in more stagnant air, unfortunately. We have been told that “smoking is allowed on the grounds," so they will do nothing about the contamination of the air inside of our apartment.

Worse than the air quality, smoking sometimes presents itself as a fire hazard as I mentioned at the beginning of this review. The ash trays outside the elevators are often overstuffed with empty cigarette packages and other trash, cigarette butts, empty beverage containers, napkins, unwanted junk mail, mis-delivered mail. Still-burning cigarettes a dropped on top or insufficiently extinguished ... resulting in a smoldering mess. This is an ongoing issue which could result in a fire.

There is much more … but … I’m out of space …

In closing, let me show you what was in the parking lot today: instagr.am/p/IfCJBsqoxV/

terrible management, overpriced, but unique apartments. The management at the building and particularly the overall manager, Maryland Management, are very difficult to deal with. A residential services advisor for the company actually said to me, "we have a policy that the managers are not allowed to speak to tenants in our buildings." This makes getting problems resolved very difficult. The building maintenance people are wonderful, but if you want something taken care of, you might as well try to track them down yourself. Be careful with the leases and security deposits - the management is not reliable in what they say by phone, so make sure to read everything carefully and possibly have a lawyer check the documents for you. Other problems - they claim to have a gym and they do for the few days a month when all the equipment (5 pieces) actually work.

All in all, the apartments are nice and the location is good, but for the absurd rent increases each year, there are much better deals out there. I would keep looking - there are better deals and better apartments in Fell's Point.

Nice Location, Dated Building, Too Expensive. LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION. The location is quite simply one of the nicest in the entire city - there's no denying that. But man, the building itself is BEAT. The heat in the lobby has been broken SINCE I MOVED IN, the rugs are disguesting, and the kitchens are bare basics...cheap cheap cheap. Hallways remind me of old, cheap Ocean City motels. Staff is okay...it's not their fault. Whoever owns that place knows how good the location is and hasn't overhauled the place, it looks like, in DECADES.

The entry system is made up of ONE DOOR and an old fashioned key...quite possibly the only $2000 a month apartment building with such an arrangement left in the United States.

Look elsewhere.

Bird Waste Everywhere. Most unpleasant place on Earth. Management Non-Existant.. I've seen low income housing in better condition. The current management refuses to clean the place up. All carpets are extremely worn out and tattered. Pigeons out-number the residents 100-1 and there is more pigeon and bird waste ground into the carpets than it is humanly possible to imagine.

Imagine being forced to walk through bird waste very time you enter and leave your apartment! This place is "hhhheeelllll on Earth" Avoid!

The place is absolutely disgusting. The corporate level management is impossible to talk to. The on-site manager, who is never there during posted office hours, ignores all complaints. I had to go to court to get my security deposit back. The court ordered it 8 months ago and I still haven't heard a thing.

Avoid Thames Point. I'd avoid Thames Point place if you expect to be treated respectfully by the Thames Point management entity, Maryland Management Company. At premium lease prices ($1250 - $2500 a month), you'd expect a relative level of service and professionalism.

I had a dreadful experience at Thames Point and the Maryland Management Company was totally unsympathetic.

The units are clean but certainly not luxurious. The kitchens and bathrooms are old and basic- linoleum floors, ancient electric stoves, cheap appliances, etc.

The courtyard is rather nice, although it often smells like trash.

The building does not offer ANY recylcing - the first building of its size I've ever encountered without a recylcing program.

Parking is okay, although the entrance is occasionally flooded.

The common area decor is dated.

The location is good.
