I recently got a haircut from the beautiful Spa in the Valley. When I walked in, it was very pretty inside. However, I was scheduled for a haircut ,shampoo and style with Maria. I was very disapointed in the lack of expereince my stylist had. She was considered a "gold" designer, however I felt that she was not worth the money. I was looking for a stylist that would help me update my look, and tell me what haircut would look good for my face, and styling ability and habits, etc, however I walked out with basically an "expensive trim". And I do have long hair that I was planning on getting cut shorter, and I was looking for ideas, that I thought an expereinced gold stylist would have, however I was very disapointed. I would definately not recomend this stylist, and maybe try getting a platinum stylist, and/or try their other spa services. I was also disapointed to learn that when I was walking out with my new "trim" they do not allow you to add tip to your credit card, however they "conveniently" have an ATM ....INSIDE THEIR LOBBY for you to give cash to the stylist., shampoo person, etc. And when i handed my little envelope over to my stylist she opened it to look at how much I gave her, which totally defeats the purpose of using the envelope, and which I thought was very unprofessional. In the end however, I did end up getting my haircut somewhere else with someone who really knew hair and NOW i love my shorter updated style!
Pros: Beautiful place
Cons: lack of experience

I had a wonderful experience at the Spa on the Avenue. I've had several services done from each department and the staff was very professional and i couldn't of asked for more except to never leave. I refer all my friends and family. I've been going there for years.Debbie has come along way from when she just started out in the biz years ago. It's a very busy environment, but at the same time you can relax. I've been to several different stylist but Rebecca is the best. She is very educated and really listen and cares. She has squeezed me in many times. She definitly takes care of her clients!! She's awesome at color and cutting. I love Spa on the Avenue!
Pros: rebecca's there and she's great
Cons: front desk needs some girls that actually knows whats going on

I went to Spa in the valley with high expectaions and the quality of the workmanship surpassed my expectaions. There was fruits on sticks i believe from edible arrangements. Everyone from the receptionist to the "helpers" <---- for lack of job title were absolutley wonderfull. I had a full day at the spa and i made sure to make standing appointsments for this treatment every month!!!!!!!!!!! 29 more days until i can feel complete bliss. Thank You Spa In The Valley
Pros: Everything
Cons: Had to go home

I just moved to the baltimore area and i desperately needed a new salon. I was pleased to find a highly recommended spa/salon right off 83N. I called to ask questions about appointments and was suprised to find that the customer service was incredible. The girl who answered talked to me for almost 15 minutes about the differences between their services. I made an appointment to consult with a hair stylist, and although she was booked for weeks, they squeezed me in! I went to the Valley location in cockeysville and i am always apprehensive about walking into a salon for the first time...but as soon as i walked in, i was greeted, my coat was hung, and i felt welcome. The coffee machine at the drink bar is impressive as well! i cant even describe it! the whole experience was just as it should be, and i left with an appointment for the next day! i had my hair cut and colored; i love it! AND two days after i was in, i received a follow-up call from the girl to see how i liked it. i am telling all my friends to go here and feel like a queen for the day. i am thinking of bringing my sisters and having a spa day!
Pros: the staff, experience/atmosphere
Cons: i had to go home afterwards!

I've been a loyal client of Spa in the Valley since they opened two years ago. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Maria is my hair stylist and I love her work. My hair has never looked better and she treats me like I'm an old friend whenever I see her. I know she is very busy but she always makes me feel like I'm her only client. I have recommended her to many of my friends who have all loved her work. I've also been lucky to experience some of their spa services, which are fantastic. Not only do they have a Tuscan room with a huge pool, sauna and steam room but the service providers are excellent and highly trained. I highly recommend Debra or Cheryl for massage and Diane for facials and waxing. The services that I have experienced have been so peaceful and relaxing. I felt truly pampered! I also want to commend their front desk staff. I can be difficult and indecisive and they are always so patient with me when I make my appointments.
Pros: beautiful atmosphere, helpful and friendly staff
Cons: parking

I had my hair done by Diane at The Spa on the Avenue. She was wonderful! Treated me like a long time client and my hair has never looked better! I had been going to the same stylist for 10 years. I was very nervous about changing. Diane knew this and took great care of Me. Afterwards she took me on a tour of the Spa. I am really looking forward to trying more of thier services.

After waiting for 45 minutes past my scheduled time, when I went to the counter, the lady at the counter recommended that I reschedule the appointment to a different day! They din’t have the courtesy to do that when they checked me in & asked me to wait. I cancelled the two appointments that I had scheduled earlier (hair & facial), they din’t seem to care! Very poor attitude. I will never go back.
Cons: Service is poor, No sense of time, they don't value customers!

The main thing about this place is the lack of any consistency. One time you will get a decent hair cut and the next it will be a butchering. They have lots of staff, but its very crowded and looks like an upscale hair cuttery. Greeters are speedy, but dont realy do anything. Things feel very rushed. I would never go back. If this place is convenient to you, I really would suggest another place. Good luck, but avoid!!!

I've been going to Spa on the Avenue for over a year now and really like. I have gotten my hair cut regularly with different stylists and everyone has done a great job. I also get my facial waxing done there and that's has been an ok experience. I was a bit put off that they do it in the make up chair if you're not getting facial, which is awkward seeing as how everyone sitting in the waiting lounge has no choice but to look. I just got a facial there the other day and LOVED IT! They do a great job of relaxation and pampering without feeling snooty.

In March 2007 my friend and I traveled an 1 1/2 hours to Spa In The Valley, A Salon By Debbie in Hunt Valley to indulge in a day of pampering in the form of a massages, manicures and pedicures, and relaxation. After we arrived and settled in our robes, we were relaxing waiting for our services to begin, when I smelled smoke. I checked around the room, but found nothing. After a short time we saw the fire alarm light illuminate. A staffer came in and said that we would have to get dressed and leave, because there was a fire. The spa closed for the remainder of the day. Jennifer, a staffer took our names and what services that we had scheduled and stated that it was her understanding that Debbie (Nazelrod) would comp our next visit should we like to reschedule. Jennifer stated that someone would call me the next day to reschedule our appointment. I waited a few days, but no one called, so I called to reschedule. I spoke with Melissa and explained to her that we were in the spa the day of the fire. We rescheduled with Melissa who said that Debbie would not comp our visit, but she was sure that Debbie would offer us something for the inconvenience. In the meantime, I called several times for clarification on what Debbie would do to make up for the inconvenience. At no time did Debbie or anyone else return my call. So on our rescheduled date, we traveled the 1 1/2 hours back to the spa. We had our services, which were quite nice, but guess what? Debbie offered us NOTHING!! She refused to comp our services or even give a free service or discount! While checking out I spoke to Melissa, who said that Debbie would not offer any discounts or free service to us. Debbie only offered free services to those who were in the midst of their service. Moreover, Debbie who was onsite, REFUSED TO COME OUT AND SPEAK WITH US!! Her website touts guest satisfaction, but please don't fall for that. I felt deceived by Debbie. Please don't patronize her establishments.
Pros: pleasant staffers, tuscan room spa
Cons: Poor customer service
